1 Peter 1:12 - 2:3, Holy By Design
Sounds good. How you all feel?
Well, good morning.
Started out good. Started out well. Crossword Heaven.
It's hard for me, not to talk about it.
My happiness is not all bound up in that game but I feel. Okay, save I enjoyed watching the game. I have you later.
You know though, so we're getting in the playoff season right now.
The teams that make it to the playoffs, just something different about them versus the other teams. All the teams have. All kinds of challenges throughout the season, think they face. Challenges to do in a regular-season you face challenges, you need to play at home. You have more support, you play a way with your facing a different crowd, if it's in a different field. A different I only got some have turf some grass of the changes, what you wear changes how they play and changes, the injuries weather in the weather can change. So like for example the game couple weeks ago against the Bears and the Eagles weren't ready for the cold weather. And if some of your looking at me, like, are we talked about this morning, I just want you to know that. I know what I'm what I'm doing. It's hard to believe it, so they faced all kinds of things, regular-season, teams face injuries that have to be made and different people do it around a dozen injuries to change into. These are all challenges that teens face in order to get to where they are now in the playoffs or some of them, still going to be working on it today to go to the playoffs with the team. Also some things we don't often think about too much is that these guys get sick? They get colds and flu to get covid and either going to be without, are they going to give me to play right after this to getting over that? I know. And they're tired. Me not want to be where you are. That's the challenge and improvise the challenge at the base of neck over, so the teams that have made it to the playoffs, a difference between them and regular-season teams is that they have found a way to overcome the challenges. They found a way to even in their weakness, even when circumstances were uncovered, they found a way to win. And one of the reasons as possible is well, there's a lot of reasons right now, lest they come together to create good teams, the coaching is a deal. Who's your coach about the play last night or you going to comment made during the game. After halftime, one of the reporters said that the coach for the Giants. We said something offensive. Like we just don't have enough place like another reporters going to tell the rest of the world start on his trouble was too thin. That's what I heard her say. It's probably not what he said, the Playbook man and it has a designer. That design is a vibrant play is designed with this attention, attention to sign plays that are intended to give them success.
I just looked at my notes and I forgot about the damn talk about challenges, you know, even this year with you fit interesting thing where a player has hit the test in his heart stops of people. Watch teen teen life. But this morning really use it. As a kickoff. For iMessage, I didn't have that one hit down.
Mexico vs. My Play Books in the adjustments that they make.
The question, the teams seem to answer isn't whether they are a playoff grade teams, they're not asking that question. Now asking, do we belong to play on a team that go to belong here in the cloud itself now is, are we champions? Time has passed where they're asking themselves. Are we play out material? The question now is our world champion and something is happening. We're going to continue to have questions are going to find out the answer to it. But Peter since we're in the first Peter, Peter call, or ReDiscover his letter, he exiled us all that last week. so although they are spread out geographically and are a mix of people groups internally There's no mistaking that God has included all of them on his team. Because of their faith in Jesus. Their lives are different now, the game is changed, they're wondering how it is. They're supposed to play. What I'm saying is Seems from what we're looking at in Peters letter, the things he says. And the things he writes, the way he describes his audience and the church youth groups that are going to hear this letter, that's written to them as we said last week. There there comprise most likely a both Jews and Gentiles people different background and Jewish at this. That Jesus has recently said that he's, he's come by now. He has been crucified the news of his resurrection has spread, Jesus has ascended and his disciples are out now telling him. Peter specifically is going to tell the world.
That God himself, our creator has come and made a way for us to be. Related to him. And so, are these people who have heard the message of Jesus, and what he's done on their behalf, have believed this and they've created a small groups of people churches in, and around the area, that you mentioned very early on.
Is that these two people groups at least we'll just kind of General with the Jews and the Gentile. They have they have very different background experiences and get her come together into a team called this morning to a new team. With a new objective for some of them. And more importantly, new ways to play the game. There's a new way to live and they're trying to Prior to their. Occasionally. There was could have been there likely was. For some if not there's a nametag in is in between the two groups, so to speak in another documents and other places and situations, even though you and I can come together with different personalities and that we love one. Another, that there is still in your home. You going to have it in the church, so and there's ways that maybe some of us prior to learning with Jesus wants her must have treated people differently because we played by different set of rules, but never on this team. And there's a new way to play these. People are going through something similar stuff has changed their wondering, how they're supposed to play.
And how? Who are they is teammates and how are they declare? What does God expect them to be? Now that they identify with him, what are we?
The truth is good news about Jesus. I accept the implications of it, what it means for my life but I have questions now. I have questions about. How do I see myself? How do I see how am I supposed to play a game? I know that many of us are certain, we've been added to God's team roster. Some very recently, And I am excited about that. but there are seasons in situations when we are not sure who, or how to be even As Believers, we will find ourselves. When we have to face how we behaved. We find ourselves dealing with an uncertain, and I think I got a little feeling in that are fake. You can start keeping with the football metaphor. Sidelines getting the best players on the best players. I certainly can sign last inside line. Even mature, believers So it's funny to me, then the most profound answer, the most profound solution to the question of, how are supposed to be an adult for not being too? He wants. I was thinking as we were singing, the song has to know. It shows, How? Probably. Could have worked through the lyrics of these songs to preach the message, which is pretty cool. I'm hoping, well, you'll have to use your thinking cap cuz I don't have the mental capacity to keep drawing back to the lyrics and an attachment completely doable songs that are mentioned in her text this morning. And so I want to begin their join me then reading 1st Peter. We're going to start at chapter. Where, in Chapter, we're going to start raining in verse 13 and 13. Friends are for and the infamous thing about the word therefore it is what you see the word therefore you stop and see what it's Yeah, that's Kiki last week we talked about it to a Living Hope. That's the situation. He's talking to the teams that is writing a letter to me, since you all have been through all. I've been born again, you all have made the choice to trust Christ. Therefore verse 13 there for Carrying your minds for action. Some of you may have versions of securing up your loins but here previous is the meaning of a preparing, your mind for action and being sober minded thinking, clear. Sitting here hope fully on the grace, that would be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 2 recap.
Blessed hope. That would be brought to Revelation to Revelation complete this to it. When Jesus returns. Press 14, as obedient children. talkin to,
Do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance. A nasty who called you is. Holy you also be holy and all your kind are since it is written. You shall be holy for. I am Holy. And if you call on him as his father judges impartially, according to each one's Deeds, conduct yourselves with fear, throughout the time of your Exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers. I would perishable things such as Silver. Sol. but with the precious blood of Christ, the lamb without blemish or spot, For knowing, before the foundations of the world was made manifest in the last time, for the sake of you. Believers in God. Who raised him from the dead and gave him. so that your face in, Ariana. Purified your souls by your obedient student. First sincere. Brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart since you've been born again.
Through the living in a body word of God, for all flesh is like grass and its Glory. Like the flower of the grass, the grass withers, the flowers called, but the word of the Lord remains forever.
So put away all malice and all the sea and hypocrisy in Lost Lander like newborn infants long for the pure spiritual milk, that buy it. You may grow up into salvation. You have tasted the Lord is good. Our reading this. What are so many things here this morning in this text and then we're going to be looking at an idea of him being wholly. By the time talk about play call henna design of the intention to create a play of a designer play. Evan intention that it produces.
This analogy. God is moving there. A spirit moving through Peter to write a letter with a specific intention in mind. He's writing to ease, prepare is preparing a place for his team and he says, here's to play call be home.
And as we look at that, as we think about that, I think you do it for me, anyhow, grab some of you sure do. It's kind of grown up around Christian in Christianity, and I should be home late. Gotcha.
It says, one of these things to me that just sounds right. Even if I don't understand it completely just sounds like I ought to maybe all of you. Just you like
Everybody knows what that mean. We're to find out something for this. When we were looking at this morning, just a section of it is actually three important questions that Peter answers right with the letters. We find that, you know, all the people all the decades and centuries Millennia before us. Say okay, when they're writing letters, often times they're typically their hand. Because the people who have asked them questions, we don't have that side of the dialogue, but we can tell by what their writing that there's an occasion with specific circumstances. People are asking questions or there's a specific situation or situations. That the authors are writing into. It's a one might suspect that in these churches in the areas which she can look in the, in the first two verses of the chapter in these areas of what it means.
They got questions on. How do I be holding? What does it mean to be wholly? Exactly. What point should I be? Holy. The questions that Peter answers just in this short section. When are we to be holding? Why do we need to be holding? Why can we be holding up? Better than others? Are the three questions for you to look at this morning? So we're going to go back into Texas, is a little bit different than what I normally do. See how it goes. I'm confident that it'll be useful.
Close the book on that note, always be home is not a situation where we get a hall pass to say, oh, I don't have to be holding the situation. However, he says it in such a way that they Intrigue / 17. If you look with me there and if you call him to call on him as father, trying to get to that judges impartially, according to each month, do you conduct yourselves as beer to out when throughout the time of your eczema? Well, that's what I'm called me. Hope, what does that mean? What's interesting? Because we know the Jews have a history of being next time. We know from the prophets in the Old Testament, we know from history, that because of their Disobedience, because of their idolatry spiritual adultery, God, judge him a chastisement Babylon cup of Syria attack. Dominates Babylon, come to text, I'm kicking, and screaming to speak to Babylon for those been
They were exiled from the land, they were promised because of The Disappearance. So, when we start talking about the exile to a Jewish person, they know what I signed up for the dead tiles in the audience. it may be different because here, there living Well, they're living clearly. They were living in or outside of Christ lifestyle. And then these areas there are all sorts of religious activities, religious thoughts, and Views, different religions idol worship that. I mean, kind of generalized. Is it pretty broadly? The point I'm making is now, they've been set on the roster for God's team, we're playing the game, and we know from other letters in the New Testament, that when this happen often they were exiled from their own people, in that time, there's a socio-economic Exile and then maybe it helps us to understand at this point in history, as likely that baby Bureau was in and tagging is a towards following Jesus antagonism toward the group that are now beginning to be called Christian. Antagonism towards them is on the rise. And so if in their communities, they are becoming part of this group, it's seen as negative. They are also feeling local negative impact their friends. The businesses are what we're going to want to have at least some distance between him and so perhaps, as a social economic sphere, So that's worthy of consideration.
Regardless of the not really regardless. But what's interesting is I don't think Peter has really drawn either of them, but rather, Something deeper and something that kind of Springs from what Jesus would have talked about. In the Kingdom of Heaven. These folks have received the gift of being labeled citizens.
Of the Kingdom of Heaven. There. They now live in the world so to speak. Where it is God's rule that their eyes open to open to it is God's characteristics and his way of being that they have been made alive, and this is different from Dark World, in which they come from the same for you. And I Our Eyes by the grace of God. I've been open to how God is righteousness, how he views his Holiness, how he wants his created to live? And so we can we play the game by differences are rules and it's different from the world in which we live. Is an upstream for a thing, a countercultural thing. I saw they were experienced something, something very similar and so when people talk about being exiled, it is that most likely they are now exiled from the world in which they were born just now. They've been born again into
And so they live and move as strangers. Interesting. Lee enough, Hebrews 11 reminds us of this thing that even the folks in the Old Testament. Lebanon, chapter filled with people whose faith.
Was shown in the way they live their lives.
Let's see, Hebrew. I forgot, I need to turn your to Hebrews, chapter 11, verses 13 through 16. You all will see it behind me when we were, I get to it. Isn't that nice? Hebrews 11 verse 1. I should have marked that 13 through 16. Speaking of these Old Testament Saints as he's also having received the things promised. What would a problem?
But haven't seen them in. From afar and having his knowledge that they were strangers and Exiles on the Earth. People who speak. Make it clear that they are seeking a Homeland. If they have been, if they had been thinking of that land from, which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return, but as it is, they desire a better country. That is a Heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God for. He has prepared for them this whole chapter have to do with these These worshipers of God saw their lives as they saw themselves as strangers. Moving in a foreign land, it wasn't Farhan. Just geographically, it was far and spiritually and they saw themselves as being part of the country in a culture that had not yet, come in its fullness. And yet they believed the promise that it would But the takeaway for us is that they saw themselves as strangers and sojourners and so Peter. I think his Doing something similar. And then we are exiled. We see ourselves with Rena. Of the side of the world, from the anti-god.
So when are we to be home? We are to be home with me throughout the time of Arctic Zone.
I've got a couple house to remind you of our bodies will wear out.
It's a given Friday morning at a really cool conversation about death with the guys are about that. That's just one way out. The other way, is that Christ returns in the air for what we call the Rapture? And and those who are his, he
Simba, and it catches them up.
The other Third Way is. Not my fav. Christ will return and set the code on the earth. You would destroy the wicked. There would be a massive amount of blood and destruction. His own people will be preserved through it all. And the term time of the wreck. So there's the Third Way Out. In the meantime, you and I live in Exile that and I are just great likes to talk about this morning. Because if we see ourselves as anything, but I thought if you think of ourselves as anything, but strangers in a foreign land, we think we belong here and there were supposed to fit in here and that we are made of the same stuff that everybody else is made out of. Now, it was born again at our cells up for failure, in any regard of movies, Will be struggling with things. Like, why are bad things happening? Why is there so much resistance to when I say or do these things? He doesn't have regarding the gospel has regular kindness. Why is it so difficult? Because we're in a time of Exile. We're trying to live in a new way. The play design is different and so the team around us, it did not we're not on the same team so to speak. Play by different rules if different objectives in our objectives. Chaffee. If I should say, the injectors of God.
Those who are not for him, that you're not going to get it. So when should we be? Holy Ulta.
I mean, your tablet is acting up all the time. Especially looking at this morning, you should obedient children. Why should born-again people be holy?
That's what you supposed to do.
You should be okay. can you explain that, Peter
A number of reasons why. So we're going to look at these lists to be causes, why should we be? Holy because of this, because of her 16. God is Holy Is interesting. The way the trees since it is written. You shall be holy for. I am Holy if on both sides of that statement, we have the word conduct being used 15. But as he who right, as he who is called you is Holy you also be holy and that's not what it says quite as he who called you is, Holy who also be wholly in all your con
The implication is that because he is Holy in his condo. You be holding your contact. It isn't about simply being But it includes.
And I don't know how to express this. This morning we're going to deal with it a little bit. The is the difference between being as a verb. and being as a
Maybe a noun, your ear. You are you are the way you exist, what's your made of your being? It is true. I believe in both cases that because God is a being who is Holy than he has in bringing us into his life, caused us to become.
Play Holy that's a tough pill to swallow green gets them. There's also God is Holy because what he does is hold his activities and therefore our activity also ought to be wholly are condoms.
I always over the years iPhone back and hand stuck in the stuff on the word. Holy books to talk about God's holiness.
I want more from it before my eyes. It doesn't mean to be more. It's just me being late. Is set apart, set apart. But if that's not enough visit, I mean to say that it means to be set apart. Okay. It said anything apart. I guess in some way but here we have the idea of being set apart to God, the goddess of hard from everything else. And you learned recently,
God himself, is holy God. Himself has said, apartments that about is about. There is no other being like him. There's no one besides him. No one above, you know, from scripture. But he is unique in his superiority, he set up a part in his superiority. No one comes close to being like him. Probably series. What does it mean to be like God he's got a partner in this uniqueness and superiority and so when it says that we are to be holy but he is Holy Holy Holy and all your car does the uniqueness now that exists in our lives. Have been born in our life characteristics of his Union. Why are we to be obedient? Why are we to be holy? Because God is Holy, he said, apart, and he's called us up into the uniqueness that exists only in him. Okay, let's still seems abstracta / 17 is another answer, Peter supplies for us. Why should we who are bored again? Be wholly or 17 says, and if you call on him as father,
if you call on him as father you call him, father if I call Dad
Sure. You were looking at something good stock. I don't know. Anyway. I call you dad. I call you father. Why? What do I tell him that? I miss Todd. Yes, exactly, Peter say, if you call on him as father, What does that make you do? children, Jesus talks about the the
the Pharisees and he called them children to did you children of your father?
the children characteristics of their parents, if you call him father than his children and if you're his children and your father's home,
Bother you come from him. You've been born from him and haven't been born from him the same characteristics of existing him. Now, existing you, if you call him father, so you can be holy because you are a holy offspring. Characteristics, cuz he's our father.
As father, what kind of father is he? The kind of father who judges impartially
Because good we have a running joke that doesn't have a shelf in a bunch of sermons cuz just a family joking. Deeply embedded. Where is the coat of many colors? Is it in our family? You know what I'm saying?
What I'm saying is he disappeared.
Maybe some parts.
Sorry, but was he doesn't play favorites which makes the next Damon even more creepy.
he who judged impartially according to each onesies you nor I as his children will receive any level of favoritism about the other because
They will happen. He judges and parsley. Any books that are what Grace of God. I thought this was all Grace based stuff, so it is our Salvation is utterly wrapped up in this great, expectations of you Behavior.
Given out. Born again.
we go from I believe is 1st Corinthians chapter 3 that the things we do outside of faith,
Will be of no value.
When we receive rewards in heaven. There are things that we do in faith. Are things that we The name in The Glory of Jesus Christ, even if the small things right.
You gave this small one of this little one glass of water and did that from your heart. You did it for me. You did that to me a count that account that little thing. Is the matter from what place in our hearts, we live. I got doesn't want you to know. I noticed, I noticed your holy Convent and I'm making an assessment of the things that have lasting value in the things they've done. So you should be holy because I'm keeping track.
I guarantee that when we see it face-to-face, we want to be able to present him with all the things that we did the roof.
Why else then should we be obedient children? Who are holding up vial. Should we be home in 4:17? But we just looked at that he judges, according to each one's Deeds, 18 and 19 that you were ransomed from the feud always inherited from you for Father's Day.
What are the reasons for that reason that we should really be holy that we should be set apart in his youth? Live inside of that. Try to reflect that desire was allowed it.
Listen to Peter writes about this because this is a statistician. Because you've been placed as a person who's holding your position, you are being your very nature. Now being brought into God's holiness and his unique superiority because of that.
You were bought into this. And I imagine that if you take their experience in the slaves as slaves, in this era of the first-century are a little different than different than how is the slave. Now, we think about slavery in America and the other countries, 100 years ago, it was different here. In that they were still bought and sold. What is Eminem's for the same? Still bought sold sold with.
The Petersons are nice too but we have been going with is even more precious than all of that and I don't think that a person could appreciate.
His life for your enemy says something utterly Jewish. Like that of a lamb without blemish respond like, okay. So the Jewish people, the Israelites go back to the
birth of the nation.
A land. Specially raise, specially bred raised and sacrifices given on their behalf. Someone is getting punished Israel.
Or I have second Solutions, I'm paraphrasing. The alternative is, I will take it spotless lamb and it's life in place of yours. What do you say? I say yes. That's what I say in the same way Jesus that I have two options, you can attend to pay for your own sin and I'll pay for it. And I don't know about what I do know about. I said, yes, thank you. I have been bought and because I haven't bought because I've been out of slavery.
God says, I paid for your life, for your freedom. And I want that we were Sister Kate at now. There's a fourth reason. God is holding called his father. Father stole his characteristic.
And on our status is Holy by purchase paid for by the blood of Christ. It goes on. This is all connected. Verse 23 is another reason why we should be holy
there's 23 since you have been born again. Nothing is connected all the way back in the beginning of the chapter has his look, since he's been born again, born into a newness of Life. Morning to my Holiness, born into a superiority that says, apart from it, the rest of the world where the world does things for every other being has been born again into this. That's why you should be home. You're not born again into sendra Born Again, out of sin, no longer a slave to sin says call in the Book of Romans. We got a lot of reasons why we can understand why we can accept. The God says you're holy. This is the way Peter says if you guys have any questions about why you think you should be called Holier? How do you think this is possible? Here they are.
But this last one being born again.
I want. Do my best to help me catch this for first 23. So, since you've been born again, not of perishable, seed, put us in a circle. Through the living and abiding word of God. You've been born again into something that is imperishable. The word of God. The word is imperishable. You've been brought into that like that Isaiah. All Flesh is like grass and all its Glory like a flower or grass, the grass withers, the flowers called What the word of the Lord remains forever and this were the good news. That was preached, okay. We would say the word of God, then does not stage fail Paris.
cause he has,
Decreed, You Are Holy. His decree. Is makes your Holiness certain and unchangeable. You Are Holy because God said, you're holy and When God says it is unchanging unalterable. but what's more interesting is that when you got back to look at Isaiah chapter 40 verses 6 through 8,
Poetically. The way, it's written the emphasis to the all flashlights grass in the flower Falls and dress with it. That's repeated twice. Just repeated back in the other. What's not repeated, is the last part, but the word of the Lord remains forever. That means as Isaiah's Friday, which is interesting because he has to the Lord, in the early part of the taxes. What shall I cry? Cuz you stayed over. This is about the temple. This of man, a big, big, big, big boom. The last line is, but the word of the Lord remains forever, a context is Messiah. The context is, there is one who will come who will exist forever. And Peter now, says speaking in time in a historic sense, going to wear their own history. He is saying that they have been born again not of a apple seed.
But but of in perishable to the living and abiding word of God, they've been born again to the word of God and Little W. Don't we think always saying this is the good news of the Gospel? Does this hearing that? Jesus is come? And I think it's deeper The context of Isaiah and what is being said here? You saying you could insert that they have been bored of not of perishable seed. Go all the way back to Genesis and her seed. Will provide. Salvation because of the situation. Her seed Eve seed will dominate the serpent in the garden figure will dominate. In an imperishable seed, to the living in abiding. Jesus, the living in abiding Messiah of God, that's talked about because he is looking for 2550 Messiah of the Lord remains forever. I'm not saying that's in the text, but I'm saying it. Puts it in the context. This is the reference and it's not too strange for us, not to talk about and no, from a study in the New Testament that the capital W is Jesus. It's not just a message, not just a pamphlet with the good news about Jesus has done. He is, in fact, the physical expression of God's word, This is Nadine, use the word heads, Peter Wright, and this word, this is Messiah is the good news. That was preached to you. This Jesus, this word, it's not one of the other, it's all of them. That is why you're holy. Because what was prophesied all these years ago, he can go back to earlier and 1:10 and 10 through 12, and talked about these prophets in the Old Testament ever waiting. When is it, when is this Messiah coming?
A saying that the good news is in this. Now it's happened. It's the same. The word come it is imperative and you benefit from the sacrifice that he's made. You are now wholly in the same way that the words come to fruition and it is Unstoppable. So will your salvation be found? Unstoppable, imperishable, Jesus, He was raised from the grave as will we? so, Peter says, so,
put away and he said some things but we have
something quick way to Dubois, okay? I really am. Is the time. I should have known when I printed it out and there were all these pages is a good thing.
How can I be holding each other. There is, it has meaning as a feeling of profound respect often for a deity and there's a set of subtle Nuance. I think that we can respect. The, I Fear God not because I'm afraid he's going to hurt me. but I know we could if you want to not because he runs around just berating and fasting me for falling short of his holiness.
But I know that his Holiness, the only standard remains just the same. I have a reverent respect that he's calling me up to something that I don't always get to. And I respect that. I revered that like I know that God can do tomorrow.
Police gracious. His mercies are new every morning. Conduct yourself in a, don't forget who it is, you serve? Who is your father's bargain with taken for granted. Yourselves with fear
another way that we can express. our Holiness is by having our faith and hope you got the one that seems to be
and the simplest is the most profound, but it still says the simplest thing. My home is in your Holiness is as bored again. Children of God, is comes by his grace, through our faith. This weekend. You know what? I'm going to study in this and just kind of think it through and I was in a good spot. Later in the week about the message right now. And Saturday, I started doing some work in the house and I hate. Can you talk about it?
Just because you don't like things doesn't mean we don't do them. My attitude. Not great, you know, in my heart not great going to be one of those days of Gods like you remember, January 21st, 2023.
That's like a no counter there.
You know how? I had behaved in ways then you're an in the evening before that I wasn't particularly happy with they were holding and I was like, how do I get to this whole message? You know what I'm starting to think about being holy and I was excited about it and now I look at myself and I'm not excited about it, I'm not even convinced. Set aside from the fact that the Bible says God says I'm holy items. This brings us back to the beginning when I say we heavy duty but we look at our experience and we begin to trade off. With what God says we begin to look at what we've done versus what he says. Because the rest of the world is going to play by the rules that says, I would judge you based on what you do, how you behave, how you act, okay? Okay.
Pagasa going to judge you based on what I've done. And I said you're pulling your my children. You've been bought been ransomed by the blood of my own son, you're holy
What it says. By Having Faith and Hope. That's it.
I have to believe that I'm holy. Because he said, so not because I'm looking at my behavior. And if somebody doesn't understand the scriptures that's going to say, What? That's like cheating, you just making stuff up now.
I'm choosing to take God's word over my own. Young man. It doesn't take much for us to realize that we don't look holy all the time.
It got sent your holy in my eyes. Paid for that.
And so when it says have faith, that that's it. It's the most profound thing.
I got to do, got to move quickly here to the end. The other reason, another way we can express it says he loved one. Another form of your heart again, going back into Peter's writing, a letter, to people from different backgrounds, different takes on how you're supposed to play the game.
He says he's learned a lot from the keypad keep at it. and then we get to rather practical thing. In verse chapter to cancel, put away of all malice, and all deceit and hypocrisy. And then being all slander, they can put all that away. The things that are probably exists in their behavior, you can imagine. And take these words, you think about how people were treating each other. With malice, they were deceiving one another saying something behind them, there's some sort of Envy as a Jewish person is easy to get it. Why would the Gentile get the same gift is our Messiah. Why should they be allowed into the camp? Why should be On the roster on the same team, it's been tradition. And I. It's the tradition of our people to serve Yahweh, that God has provided this Messiah, wanted to make it the Level Playing Field. Rid of all the enemy. It sounds like newborn infants. Long to Pure spiritual him that buy it. you may grow up into salvation if indeed you have tasted He got his saved, you not continue to take the word, like my heart's, got a baby. That baby is on the milk or the formula. Assessors.
You just take it, the simple stuff, start taking it in start time. Adjusting the word of God, we will grow up into a place where we realize the great salvation if he's going to give
Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip skip?
Holiness. Thank you, Jeff. When I said Holiness, he's like, like I'm going to say something super. Thank you good deeds. Don't produce.
Only this produces Good, Deeds, Good Deeds. Don't forget told me. Yes, I'll let you think on that one. Three ways we can apply this in some kind of leave out of here. Once, if you've been born again, I want you to just consider the insurance in your salvation. Nothing changes cannot be taken away from being called, being being a child of God. This is been paid for it. Does that it has been decreed and it's God's word cannot be changed. so if you have given your life to Christ at some point time and now you find dog urine, look at Ally. Look at my experience it doesn't look like if you have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, you are indeed a child of God, still that won't change things. Like you may have some cleaning up to do to bring this to an x-ray to apply this good riddance to bad behavior. Your hallway in to let your tongue to be home. Electrification. And hoping, God, that is true and right, and he is, and then we do the work. We let the spirit of God, the word of God work in us to produce. Good Godly Behavior. The way we treat others, who are we love one another, whether the parents siblings, Friends, Church, people bosses employees to Peter's going to continue to write about some of this and help us. God's spirit specifically, equips us to treat each other with love and respect. So good behavior. Know you saved it in like no.
I'm not even say it.
Dojo in real life.
We do it on purpose. I don't know, I can't tolerate more. And I don't tolerate or playing Andre Miss left, so you better be on purpose. She comes home, sometimes frustrated.
Play the score to your salvation. Good riddance to bad behavior, Straumann word, that you read this for your closing. But the real Frozen coming back to see my dear God is building his team up with those who trust them. Once you're on the team, you're always on the team. Jesus of the players coach, he's been on the field, run the place and taking him, he knows the kind of challenges we face as individuals and as a team. The Playbook, that's full of plays that are intended to produce Holiness on the field. Play after play, shows of how to produce Holiness, in every situation, the better we understand the Playbook, The better we can carry out God's design but the game is tough people get hurt. If it gets sidelined, stuff happens, God does things, he allows things, we don't like it, we give up with her, hands up and done something wrong. The wrong play situation. What God gives us the power of the spirit enables us to fight one or we can make adjustments. This challenges arrived arrived. Here's a sight of the holy spirit is stronger than Gatorade right juice.
Coach said he's already got them locked up. They were still in the regular season. He says the regular season's where will see you in transforming a team of players into a team of Champions Cup says that, since he already knows every chance he wants us to show the world, what being a good Champion looks like. I finally, apparently the rosters in full. He plans to recruit players for the posing team. Real good team. Got a good coach. We're champions. because he said, so in the meantime, wants to show everybody else with a champion with that unique life, like, So you got up later on this week. During the time of Aristotle.
Elvis to adopt the truth, if Jonas. Made us. Father, again, I want to pray for the Pope.
We need you, deaf.
To enable us to conduct ourselves in Holiness. We we do. you know, God you know
But we love you, we know that you paid a lot for me.
By living up to you. So wild. Roofing work, exactly. We need to color. Can you show us the place? We need to run this week people that we come in contact with? Thanks for praying to Jesus.
Amen.
