Mysterious Melchizedek
7. And we're not going to dispense with the reading through it, we usually do. But for time's sake this morning because we had Benjamin, you know, when I first met Benjamin, you know what, you know what he said? His name was, you remember what you said was? Yeah, he said, I said, it was his first day at Loving Hands. Were you? There you were there? Interview their death, Jon Benjamin. Hey, go what? You know, that's how we started off. So it's it's good to see that he's not jamming anymore like that. Yeah, yeah, it's good cuz I thought of like jelly but, you know, anyway. Okay. Keepers chapter 7 were actually going to just give a little bit of background and going verse 20. Where it says, where Jesus is gone, is a 4Runner on our behalf having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek, Or this Melchizedek king of Salem priest of the most high God met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the Kings blessed him and into him Abraham apportion. A tenth part of everything is first by translation of his name, king of righteousness. And then he is also king of Salem. That is king of peace, is without father, or mother or genealogy having neither beginning of days. Nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God. He continues a priest forever. I'm going to stop there. I don't know if I'll get to the end of verse 10 but that's sort of was the plan until they came. But anyway, no just kidding. So the title of a message is mysterious melchisedec. So how many of you have ever seen a shooting star? Oh, a lot of people have seen a shooting star. How many of you ever shot at a star? Know how many views lassoed the moon. Know. That's another movie. Okay, so a shooting star just sort of all the sudden just there goes for a little while and it's gone, right? I mean it's a, it's really a brilliant site, it just shows up and then it's gone. That's what it, what it is. Like with milk is a deck. So when you think I'm going to visit, if you can almost think of like a shooting star, he's there and then he's gone. But you know what? That came back again, at least in the word and then he was gone and then he came back again and he was gone. And each time he came back, it was like a thousand years difference. The first time we meet Melchizedek is in Genesis chapter 14, And just to give you a little bit of background of Genesis chapter 14, we're going to turn there and it should be up there and we're going to going to get to the meaning of his name and just a second. But I wanted to give you a background of of what let's go back. I'm taking that back. We're going to go to the medium, is named in, Genesis 14 is where we end up in a second. But the meaning of his name is is I think highly interesting. What do you think about the meaning of his name? He's first in in in in verse one it says Melchizedek king of Salem priest of the most high God. Now one of you guys said that you were priests in you working now and the Old Testament being a priest and a king. Bad idea and especially in Judaism. We'll talk about adding a second but in in here it says, milk is a deck is the king of Salem. So we can talk about the king of Salem now and doing talking about the king of Salem, we should go back to Genesis 14. But what? I'm not going to do that yet. I'm just going to wait until we get now. We'll go back. I was just waiting in teaching, wasn't he? You're not supposed.
In Genesis 14 we have the the background of of milk is it again? And we how we, how we he is introduced. So what I want to do is I'm not going to read Genesis 14, you're happy for that. I'm just going to have a Benjamin to quote it for me. I don't worry. An inverse for inverse. One to have that honor. There it is.
Genesis chapter 14. First one.
Yeah, you don't have to respond.
They're good back there anyway. As if we're doing a underlining in there, we would we would underline when in green and that's what I did in my text, that I can have it. So it says in the days of m m r, f, l, king of shinar. And then there's a bunch of other kings ever mentioned. He said there's actually there's four Kings these Kings made war with Vera king of Sodom in 454 other kings. So there's going to be for 5. So we go down, 2 verse 12. I mean verse for because it says 12 years these five Kings served Kadler Omar, but in the Thirteenth Year, they rebelled St. They're paying tribute. In other words, they were subjects to Kettle aromar. He was the king like like over all of them, and they were paying him, you know, tribute. So I like taxes. And then all the sudden they got tired of it. They said we're not going to do it anymore and they got a coalition together and they were going to fight against them. So in the Thirteenth Year, they rebelled in the fourteenth year. Now we're getting we're getting the timeframe here on the fourteenth year Kayla Romo Ark, and the kings were with him came and defeated the ref. You know, I just like I just wanted to put that in there. The kid. They defeated the ref, you let you know who the referee more. Giants. They were giants. I mean, they were big. They were like tennis size but about maybe 5 ft taller. They were big and these Kettle Kettle at Walmart and his group went and they defeated them. And they also defeated some other guys, and they went all that. And so we go down to verse 8 and it says, then the king of Sodom in the king of the more on the king of Adam in the king of zaboyan and the king of Bella that is or which comes into a little bit later went out and they join battle in the video of siddim with Keller Omar King of LM and all the rest of those guys verse 10 he gives us a little flu. The valley of siddim was full of butaman pits. Butaman is tar as the king of Sodom and Gomorrah fled because they were there getting their tails with so they fled and some of them fell in and into these pits. And the rest of them, they fled, and they and they went into the Hill Country. When I read this the first time and subsequent times after that, I thought that the king of Sodom and had fallen, I thought he died. But in the context will see that he didn't. So the enemy took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their provisions. And who is in, who is dwelling, inside them in his possessions, and they went their way, then one of them escaped and told the Hebrew, a Abraham, the Hebrew, you know what the Hebrew means?
That means one from Beyond that that's literally what I mean. It's okay. So who is living by The Oaks of mamre, the Amorite and blah, blah blah, and that his Kinsmen have been taken captive be led forth. With his trained men, his born in his house. 318 of them. And they went in Pursuit as far as Dan now. I wish I had a map you know if I would have planned this better at hazmat but you got to think about this, they went from The Dead Sea. All the way up to Dan now. It's probably I don't know. 5, 600 miles. I know, Kathy got a key in there. She's looking up in her shoes.
So anyway it's a long way. They went up there, they pursue them all the way up there, huh? About 300 miles in an Evangelistic talk. It's about five hundred miles. Free in hyperbole Pockets, you know, a long long way. So they go up there and then Abram devices forces and this is inverse 15 and by night and his servants, they defeat them and pursue them the whole Bath North of Damascus, which is even further. Then he brought back all the possessions and also brought back his Kinsmen lot with his possessions and the women in the people. So we know why Abram pursued this and went into it. Cuz lot was his his nephew that he brought with him out of the land of Chaldean. And, you know, it came with him. So and then they split up because they're hers, were getting too big and in Abrams said Delight choose which way you want to go. And he shows a lush Valley and went towards Sodom. so, Now, he was living inside them. So, we come back and we, we, we talked about the king of Salem, that means king of peace and Berra, in Genesis 14, which was the king of Sodom is interesting to me because Vera means son of evil. Others am at slipping. Anyway, pretty good.
Vera is the is the king of Sodom, in his name, means son of evil. So Warren wiersbe. I'm sort of not plagiarizing, but I'm sort of taking what he said and just twisting it a little. You said, if your bow down to Berra, which is evil, everything you live, will will burn up one day and that's what happened with lot. Because he died down to Bare, he went in, and he was living there, and he was even in the, in the cork if you will So we have we have we go back to the Hebrews now and we're looking at this. And we says, for this milk, is that king of Salem and priest of the most high God met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the Kings and blessed him. So priest of the most high God. So he's called the king of Salem. And then he's called the priest of the most high God. Now priest, had to be of a line of Aaron and then from Levi, in order to be a piece you had to have the right genes. If you didn't have Levi's jeans, you couldn't be a priest. All right. The Nehemiah chapter 7 verses 61 through 65.
I'm not splitting around too much, am I?
This is sort of. I wish my wife could come up and read this to you, but because it's got some names in there that only she can pronounce. But the following were, those who came up from talmalala, okay? And all these people that came up, I'm going to read it like D.l. Moody would read it. He doesn't know and he just skips over it and go. So the next thing because you know I hate when you're reading the contacts get is all that matters so okay. So, you get all these sons of Sons of Sons of and also 63. Also, the sons of the priests sons of, Ho by SIA and head sock and the life of the daughters of brasili, the guy died, and who is called by their name. So 64, these sought their registration among those enrolled in the genealogies, but it was not found there. So they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. The governor told him that they were not able to partake of the most holy food until the priest with the urim and thummim in, could should arise that they could do no cash slots and see if there really a king. I mean a priest. So they will date. If they didn't have the genealogy there, they weren't allowed to be a king. That's, that's where I want to do priest priest. That's right. Priests, they weren't allowed to be a priest. So we go back to Hebrews now, Hebrews chapter 7 and, and that says, now, for this milk is Zach King of Salem, priest of the most high God. So you he was a king and he was a priest. So it's interested in me because his attack just by his name is named to find. If you will, we we good. We get in there in later on. And says by translation is king of righteousness. Sell milk is a deck is a, is a compound word Melech and then the deck, it means king Mel and then the deck. Righteousness. What we can look at some words, some versus little bit later on for that. So anyway, He blesses him, Abraham blessed, I'm sorry, Abraham bless his milk, is a deck and then Abraham pays ties. So now we need to go to Genesis Chapter 14. Verse is 2017, through 20 in. This is a continuation of what we were reading in Genesis, chapter, 14 and verse 17 is says, after his return from the defeat of kidal of Rome art and the kings were with him, the king of Sodom, who is named Berra Yogi Berra but Berra, okay, went out to meet him, that's Abraham or Abram at at the valley of Shabba, which is the King's Valley and Melchizedek king of Salem brought out Bread and Wine. He was a priest of the most high God, or God most high and he blessed them and said, blessed the Abram by God, most high possessor of Heaven, and Earth, and blessed. Be God, most high, who has delivered your enemies in your hands and Abram gave him. That's a tenth of everything. And the king of Sodom and said to Abram, give me the persons. In other words, the people there, didn't you take all the goods for yourself. But Abrams said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted my I have lifted my hand to the Lord God, the most high possessor of Heaven and Earth that I should not take a threat or a Sandal strap from or anything that is yours lest you should say, I have made Abram rich, I will take nothing. But that what the young men of eating in the share of the men who went with me? Ain't aresco and memory they can take their share. Okay? So you get the picture of what's going on. So, It it's it's like milk is a deck and Abrams Day. Is it is a picture of Jesus Christ, Our priest king and Heaven enabling us to enjoy righteousness and peace. As we serve him. And it's interesting to me how you have to have righteousness before you can have peace in Isaiah 32:17. Isaiah says this, the effect of righteousness will be peace and the result of righteousness, quietness, and Trust forever. So certainly, we can see in in the in this instance, where milk is, it comes out to Abram with Bread and Wine. I've Listen to, I think maybe five or six different sermons on this and then read about six or seven commentaries on this, and it's interesting that some of them said that he brought that out, because bread is a sustenance for life. And wine is is is brings Joy. But, you know, when I look at that, I just think of something else. I think of the Lord's table. And I think of the picture of the bread in the wine, referring picturing or typifying Christ Christ gave his body as that represented the bread and he gave his blood. He shed his blood that represents the wine. So I think that this is even a picture and verse 18 in chapter 14 of Genesis and Melchizedek king of Salem brought out Bread and Wine. He brought it out because he was a priest and he was serving that function, I believe as a priest and a blessed Abram. okay, we're going to go back now to
Well, just sticking in in in here, when Abram is offered, all the booty, if you will from Berra. He says, no, I don't want it. Warren wiersbe had a kind of interesting, comment on this and his commentary. He said so on Abram rejected, Vera and accepted Melchizedek, okay, cuz there was at that confrontation there. If you will, he was making a statement of faith saying, take the world, but give me Jesus. And that's what we saying today. Was that interesting didn't? He didn't read my notes, did you okay? Same decision but he chose to return to his life of compromise and why would it have been wrong for Abram to take the spoils? any, any Why would have been wrong?
No Bera Bera was actually the the king of Sodom it. So why why would it have been wrong for Abram to just say okay yeah, I'll take the the stuff from from you.
She must have read my notes. What are you? What do you think Timothy?
Yeah, bear was was evil and in and taking it, we're going to compromise. It says many things of the world are legal as far as the Law's concerned but you know what? They're morally wrong. As far as God's word is concerned, you know, it can be legal, but it can be morally wrong, you know? Like when you can think of all sorts of things, I don't need to put any more out there, but there's lots of things that are legal but you know what, it's just not right. We know it's not right in her gut, but we also know it's not right because God's word tells us is not right. Now, I want you to notice once again, the order righteousness then peace, you have to have righteousness first and then you can get the piece. So we go back to the Hebrew. I mean to you at Hebrews, we're going to find out now is that it was sort of a little confusing cuz it says for this milk, is it at king of Salem priest of the most high God, it almost seems like he's first the priest and then it later on. It's that, you know, he's, he's the king or is the king in the knees, but the word king of righteousness is, is really what it means. Milk is a deck, remember. So, just remember its righteousness first then then pee, then shalom. Cuz it goes back. And it says, an Abraham apportion a tenth part of everything. He is first by translation of his name, king of righteousness and then he is also king of Salem in that is king of Peace. So, Salem, is, is a derivative of the word, Shalom? Right. Know what shalom means? That means, that means peace to greeting Hebrew greeting. And also Jerusalem is the place where he was probably the king of he was probably, it wasn't Jerusalem yet cuz it wasn't called that, I think until David came, but it was where he was from. So, it says, now, he was without father, or mother or genealogy having neither beginning of days or end of life, but resembling the Son of God. He continues a priest forever. So now we get into the mystery and a line, it has mystery in verse 3. When when I was listening to some of these sermons in reading, a lot of the commentaries most of them basically said that knock his attack was a man and that being a man, he had a mother and father and he had a genealogy but the text just didn't put it in there. Sort of for emphasis of who he was in the more I thought about it. I thought this just really sit right with me. The word resemble, there is actually an interesting word. It's a Paloma Hoya trying to say that a few times. And it means to make like or to be much like and it's almost Hazlet be the connotations of being a facsimile. You know what a fax is, right? You send a fax. And what it? What is a fax. It's a copy of, right? It's a copy of the exact thing, right? So, just milk is a deck, was a facsimile. They are at an exact copy of something that was going to come later, which is, of course, Jesus Christ. And maybe not the next time, I'm in Hebrews. But the time after that we'll get to the two verses 11 in following to the end of the chapter and we'll talk a little bit more about where they go into Psalms 110 114 or something like that. Chapter 110 will get there, so, but talks about Christ in, and how he's after the pattern of milk is a deck, but actually milk is attack, is patterned after Christ. So
I really want to get into this, so I'm going to keep going.
Verse for see how great, a man, see how great this man to whom Abraham, the patriarch gave it tenth of the spoil, stop right there because almost all of the commentaries that I read said look at it says right here is a man. Alright, so see how great this man was to whom Abraham. The patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils. You know what's really interesting? I'm not a Greek scholar, but I do know a little break. Just enough to get me in trouble. Okay. So when I looked in the Greek, the word man, there it's not there. I found that very interesting as matter of fact. One of the best translations. I I think that I found was Darby's translation. And it says this, now consider how great this personage was to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave it tenth of out of all the spoils and in the word personage is italicized. So when is italicized, it had it means that it's not, it's not there. It's just put in there for clarification so when I, when I read that and I looked it up in the Greek and I said, you know, those, the word man isn't isn't even in there. It's actually see how great this was to whom Abraham, the patriarch gave it to him for the spoiled. Now, the word, this is actually the Greek word putos, which is a How do you say that word again? Kathy, demonstrative demonstrative pronoun. Now for you, when there's a few in here who know English and grammar, so like that, they taught it for years and years. They know it far better than I do but correct me if I'm wrong and don't correct me if I'm wrong, just tell me later. A demonstrative verb is a verb that refers are now. And the monsters have pronoun is a pronoun that refers to the last noun that was mentioned. Okay? Or it could even for the one in front of it, which there are some cases, I'm just going to the back one sone.
Demonstrative pronoun is whom Abraham, the patriarch? Give it 10. Now it has to be met his milk today. Even one of the translation says Melchizedek.
But all these commentaries and all these pastors who preached on it and I don't want to talk bad about anybody. They all said this was a proof. That was an actual man. But it's not there and it's sometimes I just don't understand. Alright, enough of that going back. It says see in that the first word and verse for see this is an imperative and this word c. Is actually the word zero little easier to say. And it means to look closely at today's to look with interest in for a purpose. Usually indicating the careful observation of details. So when it says see how great this man to whom Abraham, the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoil. Another one he wants you to look intently at this.
When we first met Melchizedek in Hebrews, remember the author was coming up and he was saying, you know, I can't, I can't go there right now because you can only handle the milk, remember that? Remember that? Those are you were here. You can't handle this. So I'm just going to give you the the milk of the word for a little bit and then he dropped off and he didn't do it anymore. So those of you who have been plopped into this, I'm sorry, but you're getting me right now. You're not getting enough and I we have to remember who this author is writing to his writing, to the Hebrews who are Christians, who were living, probably between the death of Christ and before the destruction of the temple. So it's somewhere between 3838 e Okay, 270 somewhere in there and they were Christians for a while because they were that he's coming down on the saying you know, you should have known all this but instead you know I got to teach you the the milk, I got to I got to go back to the mill and the milk really wasn't. Very it was like hard milk. It was, it was it wasn't water down. It wasn't 2% milk. It was, it was hard. But anyway, do I use telling you now, he's telling us gate, don't don't just look at it. Don't, it's like you remember the word Filippo, some of you do, it means if all means just to take a casual glance, but I want you to look at some verses. I thought we really interesting about this. Look the sea and Mark. 15:47, Mary Magdalene. And Mary, the mother of Joseph saw where Jesus was laid. Now, the word saw there is this word. It means that they looked intently. So, you know, when you think about people who say full Jesus, do you know, he didn't really rise from the dead I went to the wrong grave member it. People said they heard that they do Dan apologetics. I give it didn't really die. He wasn't really raised from the dead. They just went to the wrong grave but it says that they looked intently. They didn't look they looked at with interest they say study that they knew exactly where he was. And I think I'm going to go to to, to John 20:6. I'm skipping over the loop. Passage spend Simon, Peter came following him, following John, because John was a little faster. He's younger better track athlete and and went into the tomb. And he saw the linen clothes, so he actually went in and he says he looked at him, he's thinking, what does this mean? And we know from the context of the scriptures that he had no clue what I meant. Matter fact, he went back into hiding. Some people think how they song, they believe what they believe they they believe with the women told him that he is not, he's not there anymore. They didn't know that he rose from the dead, they didn't understand the scriptures, so and then inverse 12. It says again and the two angels and white, she saw the two angels and white so she looked at him, she's song of what are you? Wow, that thing grabbed your interest and then reverse 12, it says, having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus saying there she saw him and she's looking intently at him and try and I just trying to figure out who he is figured he was a gardener but you couldn't really tell me was so those are just some other instances where this word is used. It is a command here. He this author wants us to see how great this person was Melchizedek. And how, how great is he? He says, well, first of all the patriarch that's Abram or Abraham here it says, gave a tenth of the spoils spoils. There is another interesting word and the word spoils. I won't get into the Greek word for you, but I just want to let you know that it means. Off the top. So it's Abraham gave Melchizedek of the spoils. He gave it off the top, the top, the best. Choice Parts, the first fruit of the field or the Moody. So it's interesting to me that when Abraham, the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils, it was off the top hit was the best. You know what a tenth is, you know what the tenth means? Turn off the test means. Starts with a t. Heaven. I tie good seat guy's nose.
When I was a Loving Hands, I was teaching you guys can test this. If I saw somebody started doze off, I'd ask him a question. Kenneth. Got many questions. I just kidding. But you know, it it's just trying to keep him cuz they they made me go there at 8:30 in the morning. they just got through their work out, they just got, I just ate breakfast and then they then I get them just like So anyway, so but here. But anyway, the spoils is at the top and in those descendants of Levi, who received the Priestly office. Now, have a commitment to the law to take ties from the people that is from their brothers. Those though. These are who all are also descended from Abraham. So they're from Abraham and then it goes through down the line. And these are the Levis now now, because I get this question a lot. Should we tithe and now should we tithe? Okay, well, Abraham ties, it was a tenth, it was before the law. Then Allah comes and the the Levites accepted tied to the Levi's tithe. Yes, they did. They tie it to the high priest. Not at the high priest, I know. So I'm still trying to figure out who our high priest is if we, you know, cuz we type. I mean I think he does he's supposed to be in Elder. Okay. Just so Off the top. And this is how we should give because some people think all we're not under the law anymore under grace. Okay. That's good. But you know what? Jesus, when he said, you're not under the law, but during the race, he always raise the bar, didn't he said, you heard it said, You shall not commit adultery, I say to you. Even look at a woman in lust after you commit adultery. All right, so you raise the bar. Now, you did it all over the place. So, when we talked about the tithe a type, can you tithe 40% Can you can you tie 40%? It's a trick question. No, you can't why? Because our tithe means a tent. Okay, that's just a trick question now. Can you give more than 10%? Absolutely. You should you know actually there were like there was there were a lot of ties if you will and you'll test and they gave like actually about 28% of their income. So if you want to go there, if you're going to go off, give 28%. Alright, never, so the Priestly office, these Levites they they would receive the tithe but you know what? It says here. It's it's really interesting because It is beyond the dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior that's for 7, okay? And the katyn, the one case ties are received by mortal man, but in other cases by the one of whom just testified that he lives on. So this milk is a deck is one who lives on. That's why I think I don't think he was just a mere man. I think he was actually a preincarnate appearance of Christ. Now you can disagree and you can say oh it was a man and you can go back to Aldi's, Warren wiersbe. Thought he was just a man. Of course I think Warren wiersbe knows different now cuz he's dead he passed on. So he's probably met him okay. Nevermind So and verses 6 & 7, he goes on this man who does not have the scent from them received ties from Abraham and blessed him, who had two promises to show that he was greater than remember the theme of Hebrews? What's the human hubris again? Jesus is greater, and he goes to a great list of a great list, an effort to show these Hebrew Believers that he's better than better than anyting so, it it says he goes beyond and He blesses Mel, blesses Aid, remember that God was Abraham so that he had the promises and hear the writer stating that the greater blesses, the Lesser In this culture, the father figure, the make the patriarch was always greater even if the sun had more land, had more everything that his father was still greater than him in position.
In one case, verse eight ties are received by Moreland. But in the other case, want by one of whom it has testified that he lives on one, might even say that Levi himself who receives tithe paid tithe to Abraham and this is an example of how the father represents the family line. Just so sad and Adam all send right? I think somebody even quoted that right? I'll send an atom's so that we've all seen an atom. So we're all set, you know, you don't you're not a sinner because you said, you realize that You're a sinner you send because you're a sinner. And that's just to prove it. So when, when we are in an atom, that's why we sent we, we send because it has been passed down. Somebody mentioned generational sins and we, and he's going to break that. And I can, we pray for that. And it just like that. That's how we can break our generational sin, and Adam, we can break that by believing that Jesus died for our sins and we can repent and confess in change. So in verse 9 is says one might even say that Levi himself or received tithe. Paid tithe to Abraham for. He was still in the loins of this ancestor was Melchizedek met him.
So I have a few questions.
How do you give your give off the top? You give the best in and I'm not just talking about money now. Okay, I'm talk money is in there, but I'm not talking about money. I'm talking about giving the best of your time, your talents, your treasure, the truth. You give your best. Let's go to truth. You give your best to the truth. You know what is the truth?
Well first of all it's it's Jesus Christ says I am the way the truth and life and then also it's the word of God to give your best to the word of God. Or do you just read it because you have to If you don't read it, you get penalized to get you get a demerit, are you get some type of discipline or, or do you read it? Because my wife's read it, I better read it. Or the other way around. Or do you read it? Because you want to please God and draw near to him. Abiding it. Do you give your best of your time?
And your talents. I was talking with talking about tithing off your time and Bob Sievers was in the yard in the congregation and I started talking about, you know, if there's if there's 60 Minutes in a in a in an hour then you tied off of that and that's going to be 6 minutes. So he started correcting me because he's a math, major Wizard, and all I can accept it anyway. It's just giving your best though. I don't think tithing your time means that you have to try and calculate how many minutes a day you have to read the word of God. I think it's giving them your best. So in other words, if if your best is in the morning, giving your best but if it's if you don't have a best time, the best time is in the morning cuz you if you want to start it off and the right way.
So, my questions for us, in for me. How does Christ being both priests and King at the same time? Encourage you. Remember what it? What is a king do? What should the king? That's not say? What is a can do? What should I can do? A good king of benevolent King? What should he do?
Take care of his people live live righteously. that lead righteously protect provide That's what a king does. So how does that encourage you with Jesus? Cuz that's what he is. He's our King? He he provides. What is it? A Jehovah Jireh? You know what that means? These are our provider so that, that, that should help us. How does it encourage you to? That is both the priest in the king at the same time. So he's also a priest. What is a free stew? He represents us to God. You know, in the in the in the economy of the Old Testament, you couldn't go to God, just like weekend today. You had to go to a certain place at a certain time in the priest went on your behalf.
Now we can go directly to him because he's our priest. He's our high priest.
And then my last question I swear I answer the middle question as well as around the bulletin so you guys can see there is is giving something that you do out of love for Jesus. Did you give because you love him because of what he's done for us? I think it's not in your chapter but it is is it in your chapter 1st? John Key love. We love him because he first loved us,
you know, he's the one who initiates it but we have to respond. Bus arminianism in Calvinism. Married together, David?
I pray that this just wasn't head knowledge this morning. I pray that this is something that we're going to use to glorify him throughout the week. if you're visiting, or if you're a member or if you're Just here. It's by Divine appointment.
I pray. Father, thank you for your word.
Father, I pray that.
your Holy Spirit, would Do his work in our lives right now. Convicting encouraging wherever it's needed administering Grace administering. Discipline. Lord were none of us are where we should be. And a lot of us aren't where we want to be in our life but Lord I pray that through your word you'll he'll draw us closer to you and help us understand that. Now that Jesus is our all in all that, he is our our King and our priest. Now, we don't need to go through any sacrificial system that Jesus has paid the penalty for our soon and that we have direct access now to you to the throne of God. Help us to come boldly, but humbly, help us to believe that you hear us and that when you do here at you will give us to the request that we put before you sometimes. Lord, we know that were were asking selfishly so help us God to just to pray in such a way that we know That will bring honor and glorify glorify you. Thank you.
