Turn to and read Jeremiah 1:1-5. Pray.

God gives Life

He gives physical life.
Jeremiah 1:5 KJV 1900
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Genesis 2:7 KJV 1900
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
He gives eternal life.
John 10:27–28 KJV 1900
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Romans 6:23 KJV 1900
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God gives Purpose

Turn to and read 2 Kings 24:10-16; 25:8-10.
At the time these verses took place, Jeremiah would have been an adult likely around 30 years old. While things weren’t great in the country when Jeremiah was born, I doubt that the average Israelite would have thought seriously that Jerusalem and Solomon’s Temple would have been destroyed by an invading country!
Little did Jeremiah realize what he would face in his lifetime but none of that took God by surprise because even before Jeremiah was born, He had a purpose for Jeremiah!
Jeremiah 1:5 KJV 1900
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
God had sanctified Jeremiah. Jeremiah, even before his birth, had been set apart (sanctified) by God. God desired to use Jeremiah for a specific task.
Not only that but...
God had ordained Jeremiah. As I just said, God desired to use Jeremiah for a specific task and here was the specific task - “a prophet unto the nations.” Jeremiah was to be God’s spokesperson specifically to the nation of Judah and Babylon.
Parents, God has a purpose for your children! God desires to use your children and He has a specific task for them to accomplish.
Parents, How are you doing at preparing your children for the purpose God has for them?
Proverbs 22:6 KJV 1900
Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Young People, God has a purpose for your life! God wants to use you for His honor and glory and He has a special plan for you and for the life which He has given you!
Young People, How are you doing at preparing for the purpose God has for you?
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV 1900
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Even today, Jews take seriously the command of God that was given to them in Deuteronomy chapter 6:
Deuteronomy 6:4–9 KJV 1900
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Again, Jews take this command very literally...
Mezuzah
The word mezuzah means doorpost.
These verses used are Deuteronomy 6:4–9 and 11:13–21.

Again, Parents, how are we doing at preparing our children to fulfill the purpose that God has created them for?
American Family News published this article:
Survey reveals evangelicals buying into diluted theology
Churched or unchurched, we are largely biblically illiterate”
In 2022, 38% of evangelicals believed Jesus was a great teacher, but not God.
A little more than a quarter of evangelicals (26%) do not believe the Bible is literally true;
37% say gender identity is a matter of choice; and
28% think the biblical condemnation of homosexuality doesn't apply today.
"This year's results reveal widespread confusion about the Bible and the relevance that it bears for our identity and our everyday lives. This confusion, present both inside and outside the church, cries out for clear and faithful teaching in Christian evangelism and discipleship."
The solution?
(1) strengthen the family, because people tend to pick up a worldview from their parents – not what they say, necessarily, but how they live; and
(2) put some backbone into evangelical preachers because the American Church has been chasing fads for several decades.

God Protects

While Jeremiah may not have realized all that he was going to face in his life as a result of God’s purpose for his life, God did and God promised to protect him!
Jeremiah 1:17–19 KJV 1900
Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.
Young people, while the future may seem frightening, we can face the the future with courage and confidence when you are fulfilling God’s purpose for your life!
Psalm 118:6 KJV 1900
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me?
Parents, it can be a scary thing to “let go” of your children and “let God!” But, your children will never be as safe as they will be when they are being obedient to God’s purpose for their life!
How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he gives; But greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, Just because He lives!
God gives life!
God gives purpose!
God protects!
