Lesson Intro

Have you ever sat back and pondered the many inventions that have shaped our world?
Dirt— Lol!
The Wheel— Lol!
Sliced Bread
Locomotive
Flight
Telegraph
NCR Paper
Phone
Landing on the Moon
Cell phone
Nevertheless, in spite of all these inventions, Man hasn’t really changed. We still...
get dressed putting one leg in our jeans at a time.
we still need companionship
we are people must work to eat.
we are people who need a Savior…Jesus
IT MAY BE A DIFFERENT DAY,
BUT “THE SAME GOD”
Hebrews 13:8 NLT
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
IT’S TIME TO DISCONNECT FROM THIS WORLD AND DISCOVER ANOTHER!
In this series we have—
“…Called on the God of Jacob,
A Patriarch of the Faith
God is still Faithful today
“…Called on the God of Moses,
My Father Provider
My Father Gardener
God is still Provider today
He is the SAME GOD today
as he was then!
today we are
“…Calling on the God of Mary,
It is easy to get sidetracked with the God of Mary.
over time the religious community have exalted Mary and her giving birth to Jesus More than Jesus being our Savior.
Luke 1:26–38 NLT
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” 29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!” 34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” 35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. 37 For the word of God will never fail.” 38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
Here is the point— we don’t need to diminish any of those that God’s Spirit moves on such as...
Martin Luther
Billy Graham
Maria Woodworth-Etter (1844-1924)
Aimee Semple McPherson (1890-1944)
Jack Hayford
We can exalt these people, but they are not God.
They would be appalled to be alive today and find out that they were worshipped or exalted to God’s level.
Galatians 2:20 NLT
20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
“it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

Connect the Testaments: A 365-Day Devotional with Bible Reading Plan (January 1)
In the beginning, God subdues the greatest symbol of chaos in the ancient world: the waters.
He also creates light—something that the ancients thought ruled everything. Even darkness, which they deeply feared, is now ruled by Him.
The ancients were in the middle, asking, “God, where are you in the midst of this chaotic world?”
He answers them with a story about beginnings.
In this story, we find that — the God of Mary—
establishes order in a chaotic world.
He rules other gods.
He rules the light.
He rules the night.
It’s as if God said, “Why are you afraid? I’m here. I’m working it out.”
Matthew 1–2 gives us another beginning
a child born in humble circumstances. But it’s through this child, Jesus, that the world itself was first created.
And that’s not all: in Him and through Him everything is brought together. Chaos is made orderly:
“Because all things in the heavens and on earth were created by him … and he himself is before all things, and in him all things are held together” (Col 1:16–17).
We worry that evil and chaos will reign, but we must let Christ take control. He can bring order to our unruly lives. We need a new beginning.
In Genesis,
God wants us to see Jesus taking back what He created—and that includes us.
What chaos do you fear?
We often feel in the middle, but our beginnings suggest that Christ is holding everything together.
Two Questions:
What areas of your life need God’s order?
Where do you need Christ to step in and hold together?
JOHN D. BARRY
the God of Mary...
I say all of this to say “we can trust God”
The God of Mary—
He establishes order in a chaotic world.
God speaks and the elements of the World respond.
Genesis 1:1–3 (NLT)
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3 Then God said...“.
When God Speaks--
Psalm 103:20 NLT
20 Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.
Here is a cool link...
Hebrews 1:14 NLT
14 Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.
The angel carried out the prophetic word to Mary
Luke 1:32–33 NLT
32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”
He rules other gods even when he looks like he is loosing.
1 Kings 18:36–39 NLT
36 At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. 37 O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.” 38 Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord—he is God! Yes, the Lord is God!”
God will do great exploits — because he is a Great God.
God is a winning god — satan sought after Peter, and Jesus stood the gap and Peter was fully restored.
Satan thought he had you and me, BUT GOD… you have been forgiven, redeemed, and restored.
YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU USE TO BE!
YOU ARE THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD!
BLOOD BOUGHT
AND WE WILL NOT TURN OUR BACKS ON GOD WHEN THE LIGHT HAS FADED.... WHY?
He rules the light and the night in a way to bring direction, healing, Love and Peace in spite of fear and anxiety—He is God.
We normally equate Light with freedom and victory and then we normally equate Darkness with fear and anxiety!
Listen— God is God and he always will be God!
He is God who rules the light and the night!
Colossians 1:16–17 NLT
16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
EVEN IN THE CHAOS!

Closing

We often feel in the middle of things, but when we examine our beginnings we find that Christ is holding everything together.

What areas of your life need God’s order?
Where do you need Christ to step in and hold together?
