NEW PERSPECTIVE

2 Kings 6:15 NIV
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
BE STILL/ PRAY
Is there any one else in the crowd that can never find the thing that they are looking for and then someone comes and finds it right away? It’s always for some reason ketchup. Most of the time when something is missing, its not really missing. We just need a new look on things.
Most often this happens in our spiritual life. We say things like “what is the reason?” “I don’t know why I’m suffering,” or even the most used “Why is God allowing this?”
We get so focused on the earthly troubles we forget that Romans 8:28 says

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

THE PERSPECTIVE IN WHICH YOU ARE LOOKING IS THE PERSPECTIVE THAT HOLDS YOUR HEART
Why is the heart so important?
There are two types of eyes that we see in the Bible.
PHYSICAL EYES / EYES OF THE HEART
Both of these have different functions.
PHYSICAL EYES FEED INTO THE BRAIN WHERE INFORMATION IS PROCESSED AND THEN SENT TO THE HEART
THE EYES OF THE HEART IS HOW WE REACT TO EACH AND EVERY DAILY SITUATION
Every type of evil deed comes in through what the eyes see each and every day.
CHILDREN
In 2003, a study was done as to the percentage of hate crimes that were commited by juveniles. The report stated that an estimated 70% of all hate crimes were commited by juveniles ages 15-24.
Matthew 6:22 NIV
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
2 Kings 6:8–10 NIV
Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.” The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.
ARAM(Ah-ram)-SYRIA (KING BEN-HADAD), KING JEHORAM (Je-ho-ram)(SON OF AHAB)
2 Kings 6:11–12 NIV
This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?” “None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”
2 Kings 6:13–14 NIV
“Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered, “so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back: “He is in Dothan.” Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.
IF THE ENEMY CAN CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE HE CAN CHANGE YOUR PATH
2 Kings 6:15 NIV
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
GEHAZI- SERVANT OF ELISHA. CONTINUED TO DEPEND ON THE WORLDLY AND MISSED OUT ON THE SPIRITUAL. A LOT OF TIMES, WE ARE SO FOCUSED ON THE THINGS THAT ARE GOING WRONG THAT WE DON’T SEE WHAT IS GOING RIGHT.
WAS NOT ABLE TO HEAL TO SHUNNAMITE WOMAN’S (WHO HE TRIED TO PRY OFF OF ELISHA) SON
WENT TO NAAMAN TO TRY AND MAKE HIM PAY ELISHA FOR HIS HEALING OF HIS LEPROSY
Why is this important?
NOT HAVING A PERSPECTIVE FOCUSED ON GOD’S WILL SHIFTS THE BEHAVIOR TO WORLDY VIEWS
2 Kings 6:16–17 (NIV)
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.”
JUST AS THE WORLDY PERSPECTIVE IS LEARNED, IT CAN BE SHIFTED.
Romans 12:2 NIV
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
WHEN WE RETRAIN OUR MIND TO FOCUS ON THE GODLY, WE CAN SEE THE GODLY TAKE PLACE
Matthew 5:8 NIV
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
The pure in heart refers to those that love the Lord. Therefore, their inward affection for the Lord then is reflected in outward profession of faith.
1 John 2:6 NKJV
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
Walking in the will of the Father is a requirement to being connected to the Father.
ought- opheilō - refers to an obligation or duty
2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)
Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
