Diacronic and Syn-cronic

diacronic is looking at the understanding of the word throughout time. (originated in etymology. e.g. goodbye = God be with yee). Problem: just because a word originated like X does not mean it is being used here as X and not how it would be understood as Y at that time in history. Diacronic and etymological emphasis is often a mark of an amature.
