Life is Special: All Life if God’s

Good morning my friends!
Well, here we are and we are just about through the month of January, hard to imagine, but the month is almost over.
Let me ask you a question, if you made a resolution at the first of the year, how are you doing with it?
Let me ask you another question; did you make any spiritual resolutions? You know like reading the Word more, praying more, sharing more, caring more? How are you doing with that?
Now I ask those questions not to antagonize, or pick at you, but to remind you we have work to do every day. Some physical and yes, some spiritual.
Stick with it, we have a lot to do in this life, the greatest of which is service to Him and others.
All of this is possible as we walk with the Lord more and more. In doing so we see our mind, our heart is more aligned with His.
And that is where we want to be my friends, we want to be in Him, we want to be all in, living in a way that our mind, heart moves in His direction and ways in all things.
Today, this applies, it is Sanctity of Life Sunday! The day we are reminded that all life is God’s and it is important. All life is important!
I believe as I am sure many of you do that life begins at conception.
Not all will agree with that statement, that is ok. They have that right.
Today I want to invite you to the book of Psalms for one passage that will serve as our base text for this message today...
Psalm 139:13–16 ESV
13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
So, we know who is speaking here, it is David. The greatest King of Israel, He is speaking in the author of this Psalm.
David in this Psalm is calling for God to search and know him, in spite of the enemies that might hate Him, or persecute him at times.
We know without a doubt, David is God’s man, he has been prepared for that time to serve God and the people.
He wasn’t right all the time, but his life was God’s.
So looking at this passage and others we will examine as well, we will understand more and more why life is special.
1. Wonderfully Made...
Humanity is the very creation of God, what He created and put in place, and it continues to this day.
God created man. there is no way we drug ourselves up out of the mud, pulled our tails off and learned to walk up right and suddenly we evolved… No way.
Let me share three verses with you from the book of Genesis....
Genesis 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
And then.....
Genesis 1:26–27 ESV
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
So what we have here is the truth, way back, at the start of time as we know it, God created all that there is. Over 6 days he brought everything into existence and on the 7th day He rested..
Can you imagine, over those days as He spoke, to suddenly see it there, from the universe to the tiniest grain of sand in our oceans, God created all.
But the very crown of His creation is man and woman. God made us and gave us life and made us a living soul.
And when we think about verses 26-27 , those are very special to me, we see the Tribune God , God Father, Son and Holy Spirit as God says let us create man and woman in Our own image. Not after the angels, not after anything else, but after His own image.
Now you might stop there and say, how do you know it’s the Triune God, well, I’m glad you asked..
Gen 1;1 God = Elohim
Gen 1:26 and 27 we find Let us, pl, Make man in our pl, image.
God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit made man....
Now here in our key Psalm, 139, we find that King David, He know this and he knew that God was the foundation for life, The very source of life.
So go back to our main text....
He says in verse 13, you formed my inward parts, you knitted me together in my Mother’s womb.
What is he saying...??
He is not talking about “Hey I wasn’t just t just an embryo, some mass of cells that developed by chance and this is how I ended up… No, He is confessing that the Lord His God is the one who made him. He knew him and formed him.
And David he not only confesses that here, but praises God for His creative efforts. Look at verse 14,
Psalm 139:14 (ESV)
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
The phrase I praise you, is to shout through the air, like sending an arrow into the sky.. You are releasing your breath and voice in praise to the Lord their God for his great work His life.
Have you ever opening praised God.... Yes. Praise the Lord, Praise you for your great love, I praise you for the day you saved me...
We understand what David is saying there
God is the source of all life, not us, not our doing. it is God’s doing my friends.
Do you believe God made you? Do you believe He is the source of all life?
Now let me take you to a second thought today, are you ready..
2. Life Begins before Birth....
If there is one thing I want you to know, it is this… You are eternal!
You are not here by chance. God knew and planned for you and your life to be here.
Have you ever considered those two things fully? You are an eternal creature, you were known before the foundation of the world, you were known by God and he planned for your entrance.
God knew the day, time and second of your conception and later birth, He knows when you will be leaving and He knows your state after this life.
Let me take you to the the book of Jeremiah, chapter 1, verses 4-5
Jeremiah 1:4–5 ESV
4 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Before I made you, I knew you God says… Jeremiah I knew you. He knew us as well before we came into the world. I knew you, I like that, it speaks to the eternal knowledge of God. He is omniscient, all knowing, the past the present to the future.
The Lord was thinking about Him, How he would make him, consecrate him as His servant and use him in due time.
But were did His life start, it started with God.
It wasn’t the primary action of Jeremiah’s parents that brought him into being, it was God plan for Him. His life was known by God before hand.
Let me take you to another passage. Luke chapter 1.
There in Luke one let me tell you what is happening...
Zechariah, this older man was serving the Lord in the Temple, it was his time to do so… We know that God sent his angel to him. Gabriel told him that He and Elizabeth, their prayers had been heard and at the right time, they would have a son who would be set apart for the Lord and His name would be John.
Now we this child is John the baptist.
Now, about 6th months later, Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her of God’s plan for her. Mary, you have been chosen by God to carry His son, the Messiah into the world.
Now Mary, afterwards made a trip. Remember she went to visit her cousin Elizabeth, and this is the account of Luke 1:41-42....
Luke 1:41–42 ESV
41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
Elizabeth’s child John, leaped in His mother’s womb, he was filled with joy, Why.??. Mary was carrying the son of God.. and even Elizabeth praised God for Mary.
Now, no one can tell me that John wasn’t alive in his mother’s womb. My goodness, He was so alive that He was praising God from His mother’s womb.
I am convinced that life begins at the moment of conception, but beyond all this, God knows us from the foundation of the world.
David said in verse 15 Ps 139:15
Psalm 139:15 ESV
15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
David believed God himself formed him, made him perfect and complete. I love that David says here that he was intricately woven. It makes me think of the thought of someone who weaves a rug or garment in the loom, making the fabric.
They choose the colors and types of fiber and place each part together in a wonderfully unique way to make the pattern of the material so special
So God has made each of us… and each one is so special.
Life begins before birth....
Since we know that life begins before birth we cannot say that is it ok to terminate that life before birth. We cannot… it would be the same as murder.
And God says plainly, You shall not kill… Abortion is a premeditated murder. a person doesn’t want that life so they have it killed.
Now someone might say, Preacher, there is no heartbeat a 1 week or 2, how is it alive.
Listen, as that baby’s body develops, even from the moment of conception, those various parts of that baby, no matter how small, no matter who young it might be.... even when it is still just a few days along.. all there is happening. If it was dead, it would not be changing, developing.
We cant say, well lets wait and see if there is a heart beat… God knows that child is alive, life begins before birth...
Now, lets move forward, to my last thought today..
3. He has Numbered our Days..
If there is one other piece of information that I am aware of, we do not live forever, the Bible tells us it is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment; Heb 9:27....
Our days are numbered… As long as Jesus delays His coming, people will see death.
What is the point I am making… If he planned for our entrance, understand He has prepared for our exit as well. It is not right for us to attempt to leave sooner.
It is truly no different than abortion, life is his, life is precious and life is His… not mine
Now I know there are a lot of people in the world who are promoting Doctor assisted Suicide, and there is a lot of arguments about it.
They say, but a person is suffering, their quality of life isn’t good. So it is something we should do to allow a good life.
But Friends, it is not right. Why? Life is God’s, it belong to Him.
Let me take you back to Psa 139:16..for a minute..
Psalm 139:16 ESV
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
What is David saying in this rather cryptic phrase?
The number of my days were mapped out in front of God, everyone of them.
Look at what David says at the start of 16 ..”Your eyes say my unformed substance...”
God you saw the very moment you brought what you planned into this world...My embryonic members (my very life and all its parts) were known and planned by you…
God didn’t leave David’s life to chance, he knew them and planned them...
I like that idea of being mapped out.. it shows the start and end of the destination.
Think about taking a trip, we start at home and we end up at a new place, but if you have never been there before, you do not know what to expect, But God does, why?? He has been there. He knows it.
Knowing that God has planned our days my friends, we cannot have a causal look on life, why, it’s His life.
Not only did he map it out, know them, He says that God has recorded every one of them in His book.
In truth, every one of them were known to God before the first one took place. And God is the one who can be trusted with our lives, He will not allow us to stay past our expiration date.
Job 14:5 ESV
5 Since his days are determined, and the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his limits that he cannot pass,
And friends, if God knows our days, God back to this one question.. No matter that is happening, can He be trusted? Yes, God can be trusted.
Those who are for it, the say it is merciful to let a person choose and go…but what do you miss when you make decisions a part from God? You miss out my friend, a person misses out.
What they miss out the most is what God is seeking to produce in you for his glory.
Do you remember James 1:2-4
James 1:2–4 ESV
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Wow, enduring the testing of our faith produces steadfastness, and that steadfastness, enduring to the end with Godly patience will have it’s full effect on you.
Bringing you to the complete fruition of what God has planned for you and those around you.
Consider this, what is the way you endured suffering, hardship would speak so deeply in a person’s life that they became a Christian, would that be worth it?
Yes.
My friends, in all this life is special, it’s important and it is God’s since he is the author of life.
Lets pray
