Get Excited

 

Have you ever been in a situation where you're in  church and it so happens that they are having a baptism on that Sabbath.

You're sitting there looking fairly comfortable but inside you're kind of anxious and frowning.

You're a little upset with your Pastor because He exceeded his normal limited sermon time of 15 min in accordance with Communion or any other special ceremony

 

Already you feel that the song service leader was out of line for making you and congregation sing too many songs, not only that but he made you sing all the verses to every song!!  Unnecessary

 

There's been quite a number of people that are being baptized and every time one comes up out of the water,  you make sure your amen echoes among the corridors along with the rest of the congregation

 

But in your mind you wonder,  Is this the last candidate?!!! Finally you're sure, the last one is baptized and they're all changed.

So you rush to shake a few hands not really aiming to know the new bro or sis in Christ but with you r mind fixed on Sabbath dinner you want free yourself from some guilt before you go home to eat and probably get into some personal ministries or Lay activity, 

 

So after it's all said and done you quickly but respectfully greet some of the reg.

brethren pleasantly and gracefully you rush home to you destination point blank Mission Accomplished!!

 

Think of it, if you will; thousands upon thousands of angels and God Himself are rejoicing because some an woman boys girl has decide to really follow Jesus to except Him as Lord and Saviour of their life.

Hearts are being changed, lives are being directed.

God wants them to have life and they except it!

Angels are glad, Jesus is pleased all of Heaven is excited!!!

But what about the Christian does he or she share the same feelings the Lord and the angelic host have?

Or is that person mainly concerned about the comforts of his or her own home?

Do they have the same taste?

and do they much in common?

I suggest to you this morning as Children of God we need to be concerned about the affairs of God we need to Get Excited!!

 

Now the dictionary tells me that the word excited is an adjective which means "In a state of excitement; emotionally aroused; stirred.

I might add that when one is excited about something there's usually a great deal of interest that a person has over the subject that causes the excitement.

What are some of the things folk get excited about?

Well people get excited over a lot  of things.

Newlyweds or married couples are excited about their first born child.

Some folk get excited about new cars,  Students get excited about long weekends or holidays from school,  Teachers get excited about long weekends or holidays from school.

And I know their were some (Chicago fans; New York Giant fans)

 

People that work are excited about getting days off with pay.

If men and women, boys and girls can get excited about these things  BRETHREN WHY CAN'T WE GET EXCITED ABOUT JESUS!!  WE'VE GOT TO GET EXCITED ABOUT OUR LORD!!

 

Today I'm not necessarily talking about being more enthusiastic;  neither am I talking about getting a charismatic movement going; or shouting or screaming or saying loud amens in church.

What I'm saying today is that we need to get excited by having the love of Jesus in our hearts.

we gotta to be in love with the one who is all in all.

I want to talk about Love today love that turns into action.

And Husbands I know that some of you can relate to your courting days the courting of your wife.

That's when love is in action aint that right!!

 

 

I remember when I was courting my wife,  She lived in Montreal, Canada and I live in here in the Bronx,  and every chance I could I wanted to get to spend with her.

And I would look forward to the time I would be with her because I couldn't go every weekend,  my responsibilities kept me down in the city I would try to supplement that by calling on the phone or writing letters when I could.

Man she got so many letters from me,  I remember her telling me that her brother in law said man where in the world does he get all this time to write all these letters                 (5 pages)   I was excited.

Wrote letters and notes in college, wrote letters during our engagement period  and man she did something quite mean to me.

She kept all those notes and letters.

If you desire something you better say something.

And when I did get a chance to visits man you better believe I try to use the time wisely!!

You think I'd go and watch basketball or go to a baseball game or play dominoes while I was up there

And when you are in love with Jesus you will find the time for prayer, find the time for Bible study, no body has to prompt you or get on you to do it you're in love you're excited!!

 

I can remember before our days or courtship praying to the Lord for the right on.

Don't tell me you never prayed.

That's something I did brother!!

Here I was a young preacher, just getting out of school and not married.

And there are some sincere brethren,  you know what I'm talking about!

When I got down back into New York.

You know the match makers,  And I knew about them and Lord knows I did not want to go that route.

I mean it worked well for Isaac, the matchmaking route, someone else scouting but I knew it wasn't for me.

I new that if I that it someone was gonna scout a life's companion for me the Lord and I where going to do it *ALONE!!!*

And sure enough the Lord answered my prayers and when I walked down that aisle that bright Sunday afternoon to say all the I Do's, I does and wills.

I knew like Pepsi that "I got the right one baby UH HUH!!

 

*  *And when I found her I became an evangelist I begin to tell and so all those matchmakers about her and her picture.

Cause they where sure that the Lord spoke to them saying I got somebody for him when he didn't speak to me about it.

Yea became an evangelist not only them but my friends and family.

I wanted to share it.

When you know somebody,  when someone has done something for you

got to have an experience what has Jesus done for you!!

You cannot keep it to yourself just gotta get and tell somebody else.

You cant keep a neutral state about Jesus if He has done something for you!!!  Find something to do,  you want to know Him better each day!!

No body has to stand and tell you to do it you just do, cause you're in love.

(Imagine if someone before I got married said to me .

.  .You know Conrad your getting married soon don't you want to share that with someone)

Man when you are in love prepare to spend some money.

I don't think I've ever taken her to McDonalds for lunch or dinner.

And you know how are ego's are we men want to prove something.

Go downtown (dinner on her, some women will take advantage)  are you sure honey that is awfully expensive.

And when your pocket is in serious drought trouble you will still try to get the best you can.  (Christmas) 

 

It's not the gift it's the thought that counts and if the gift can somehow show you appreciation and love.

And enhance the relationship bet you both MISSION ACCOMPLISH!

 

Spend money on the one you love.
