Rooted: A Single Branch Can Bear Much Fruit

Psalm 1:1–3 CSB
1 How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! 2 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

What Rooted People Don’t Do:

1) Walk in the advice (counsel) of the wicked

2) Stand in the Pathway of Sinners

Stand = Take a stand or Take a position
By extension: conform
Romans 12:1–2 ESV
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

3) Sit in the position of ridicule

Psalm 1:1 AMP
1 BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
Seat = seat, habitation, a fixed place
Mockers = chatterers, boastful, scornful, those who put on airs

What Rooted People Do:

1) Delight in God’s Word

Jeremiah 15:16 CSB
16 Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words became a delight to me and the joy of my heart, for I bear your name, Lord God of Armies.

2) Keep their mind focused on Godly things

Colossians 3:2 AMP
2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
Philippians 4:8 NKJV
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
