Whats in a Worldview
Part 3
God Made it All
Genesis 1:1 NKJV In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
The late, well-known physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking once theorized that humans may only have 100 years left on earth before facing extinction.
His secular view of the end of the world is based on his assumption that the earths resources will soon be depleted, and as natural events culminate, they will lead to the demise of humanity.
Hawkings musings about the end of the world were rooted in his atheistic worldview.
_______________
Now, the Bible also predicts the world will end, but for very different reasons.
The Apostle Peter warned long ago that the end of all things is near(1 Pet 4:7).
But unlike Hawking, the Bible predicts that the demise of earth wont happen because of its waning ability to sustain life, but will end with the long-awaited return of Jesus Christ!
_____________
What you believe about both the beginning and the end of the world depends on your worldviewis it a worldly worldview, or a Biblical worldview?
Remember, your worldview decides how you view and interpret everything around you.
Your worldview is shaped by what you have accepted as being true about key issues like:
*where the world came from,
*what the meaning of life is,
*what the nature of truth is,
*where truth can be found,
*is there an afterlife, and so on.
And the number one most important foundation stone of a Biblical worldview is how you answer the question: Where did everything come from?
Is evolution right?
Did everything come into being following a Big Bang in outer space?
Or....
Did all of life begin with a single-celled organism in some ancient sea that, by endless time and crazy chance, developed into a multi-celled organism that eventually evolved into a life form that could live on land?
And out of that life form everything else evolved?
And even if you believe that, where did the original single-celled organism come from?
And where did the earth and sea it lived in come from?
Your worldview will be shaped by your answer to that question more than any single thing!
_____________
In fact,
I. The most important verse in the whole Bible is Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Because if you reject Genesis 1:1, the rest of the Bible is irrelevant.
How can you believe any of the rest of the Bibles claims if you reject the very first verse that explains where everything came from?
Genesis 1:1 sets the stage for everything else that unfolds in Scripture!
The first book in the Bible informs us of how our world began, while the last book of the Bible (Johns Revelation) tells us how our world will end.
______________
Our text from Hebrews says By faith we understand that the worlds were framed (prepared, fitted, joined together) by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Everything we see, hear, taste, touch, and smell, everything that exists around us, was created out of nothing by the spoken Word of God!
Johns gospel goes even further to describe the involvement Christ Jesus (God the Son) had in creation:
John 1:3 All things were made through Him (Jesus), and without Him nothing was made that was made.
The word for madehere is came into being.
So this verse could read: All things came into being through Him, and without Him nothing came into being that came into being.
____________
The Bible says that God (Elohim) created the heavens, the earth, and all that is in them in six normal-length days.
His completed creation was very good (Gen 1:31), and all the original animals (including dinosaurs) and the first two humans (Adam and Eve) were created in that time period.
Life was perfect because the earth was not yet affected by the Curse.
Death, violence, disease, sickness, and fear had no part in the original creation.
___________
Now, one of the many scientific proofs that God made everything comes from a branch of science calledinformation theory.
Information theory confirms God made it all through the study of DNA.
DNA is the molecule of heredity.
It contains all the instructions necessary for life.
Everyone listening to me has a unique DNA fingerprint that you leave everywhere you go.
Your DNA is in your hair, sweat, skin cells, on your clothes, on anything you touch.
It contains your hereditary material and your genesits what makes us unique!
Every persons DNA is miraculous machine!
It contains 3 billion bases, 20,000 genes, and 23 pairs of chromosomes!
It contains more information than the greatest supercomputer.
Which means that DNA has been PROGRAMMED——Like a computer.
But who or what was the Programmer?
Without question, the information in our DNA could never have happened randomly by time and chance.
The programmer would had to have had staggering intelligence in order to create and program the incredible DNA molecule!
The Bible tells us in Gen. 1:1 that THE PROGRAMMER WAS GOD!
In fact, the complexity of all of life proclaims that an intentional intelligence was behind it all.
The Bible says, The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known....Their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world(Ps. 19:1-4 NLT).
Ro. 1:20 NLT For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
So the Genesis 1:1 account of where all things came from fits with real science.
____________
Hence,
II. Genesis 1:1 contradicts the theory of evolution
Evolution is a worldview!
It has shaped the worldview of billions of people since it first emerged in 1859 in a book by Charles Darwin called On the Origin of Species.
Now, if you embrace evolution as a worldview, then you must also embrace the beliefs that go with it:
*There is no Creator God.
*We are all cosmic accidents caused by a cold, random evolutionary process.
*There is no absolute truth, morality, or accountability to a God after I die.
*We are all alone in a random universe that offers no transcendent meaning or purpose.
____________
The worldview fostered by evolution shows how important a worldview is.
The theory of evolution has fueled some of the greatest atrocities in modern history.
For instance, Darwins evolutionary theory of survival of the fittesthad a major influence on Nazi race policies.
Survival of the fittest is the notion that, over time, evolution weeds out the weak that eventually die off, and favors the strong that survive and thrive.
Hitler believed in a superior raceand that he could help evolution along through what he called the final solutionthe extermination of approximately six million Jews and four million other people who belonged to what the Nazis considered inferior races.
Stalin, Karl Marx, Mussolini, and other murderous dictators that killed millions of people were Darwinian evolutionists.
No doubt, Evolution and Creationism are two world views that will never get along!
_______________
But now lets look at the glorious flip sidethe worldview of Creationism....God made it all!
If you embrace the Gen. 1:1 account of creation, it gives you a worldview that says:
*The God that created the universe created me:So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him(Gen.1:27). I am fearfully and wonderfully made(Ps. 139:14).
*We were created on purpose for a purpose:God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do(Eph. 2:10 ERV).
*We were created for relationship with God: "For God is faithful through whom you were called into Fellowship with His Son Christ Jesus(1 Cor. 1:9 NKJV).
______________
*For the Christian, a Biblical worldview is to view all things as created by Creator God through His Son, Jesus Christ!
