INTRODUCTION
Jesus talks more about the KOG than anything else…over 100x Jesus talked about it
He called it The Gospel of the Kingdom and it must be peached all over the world that is the Gospel that we are trying to recover…it has been reduced today…He is a Savior but not a King
the Good News is that Jesus is offering us an invitation to join the KOG
(ILL) I remember when I first saw Suzie…as a girl…not just a member in the youth group…I was looking for something
what is the first thing you look for in a person…how do you measure someone
THE FIRST THING JESUS LOOKS FOR IS TO SEE WHAT WE LOOK FOR FIRST
Jesus knows we are seekers…He talks about this in the SOM…we desire and seek…clothes…money…security
Jesus does not condemn us for being seekers but He condemns what we seek first
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
what does it mean to seek first the KOG…WE MUST SEEK GOD’S RULE FIRST
Jesus has brought the offer of God’s rule into this evil age…repent, I bring you good news KOG is at hand
there are a lot of other kingdoms that are at hand as well
God demands one thing…a decision…make up your mind…decide if you are going to be serious about KOG
the KOG is different from the other kingdoms…it cannot be 3rd or 5th place…it must be #1
you are not part of the KOG unless you seek it first…do not profess allegiance to the KOG if you are going to spend your energy chasing other kingdoms
repent means a lot more than just don’t cuss so much or stop looking at dirty pictures on the internet
repent means to give up your allegiances to the other kingdoms that allows you to say “my will be done”
MATTHEW 6:33 NLT GNT CEV TLB ERV
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
33 Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.
33 Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
33 Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
it is good news to allow God to be in charge of our lives
we think repentance is something we have to do but it is a something we get to do
We get to repent and give up all of these kingdoms and choose the rule of God…that is top priority…first rule
How do you choose that…3 suggestions…hard but they work
#1 WE MUST TENDER OUR RESIGNATION
We have to get off the throne b/c you are not suppose to be king
(ILL) Ali versus Frazier…1971…there seems to be some confusion and we are going to clear it up, on March 8 we are going to decide once and for all who is king, there is not a man alive that can whip me, I am too smart, too pretty, I am the greatest, I am the king, I should be a postage stamp that is the only way I could get licked…he lost the fight
We are good at proclaiming we are the king but we are not very good at living as a king but we all think we should be
Our country was founded on serving no king and being independent PPL and we cherish independence but spiritually that doesn’t work…we are not good at being the kings and rulers of our lives
Satan whispered to Adam and Eve…you do not need God, you can do for yourself
what He says He can do for you, you can run your own life better than He can, so take charge of your destiny, be the master of your fate and the captain of your soul
Our right to rule was never more evident than when Jesus was here and we decided to crucify Him…we did not want Him to be king…we serve no sovereign here!
There can be no desiring until there is a dethroning…seek the KOG until you resign the master of your life The early church preached the whole Gospel…Jesus is a savior that will get you into Heaven and He is a Sovereign and He will run your life
7 and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.”
We must turn in our RES everyday…taking up your cross daily
(ILL) man kept a white flag under his bed…every morning when he woke up he would get that flag out and wave it in the air and surrender to God before the day would begin
10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
God I want you to rule me right now like you will rule me in Heaven…how is God’s will done in Heaven…is it debated…God’s will is done immediately, completely, willfully, and fully…we want that right now and everyday
We all have control issues that the HS needs to help us with
The HS will talk to you everyday…is Jesus reigning over this…watching…reading…listening…job…marriage
If you had a chance to get a new job tomorrow for more money what would be your first thought…I would take it, it is more money…what if your new job would take you further from the KOG…would you still take it
Is Jesus reigning over your friendships that you are pursuing and the friendships that you are not pursuing
The first rule is to make the first consideration in every the choice the KOG
We really do need to be saved from ourselves…we are lousy kings and rulers…we are do not a good job of it Maybe we should wave a white flag everyday…hold your right hand up…pray the Lord’s prayer…everyday turn in your resignation
(ILL) Bobby Richardson…former 2nd baseman for the Yankees…at a FCA breakfast…he prayed…God, your will, nothing more and nothing less and nothing else
#2 WE MUST SURRENDER WORSHIP TO GOD
There is a relationship to the kingdom that I serve and the worship that I give Satan said to Jesus…I will give you kingdoms, all you have to do is worship me
Whatever you seek the most is what you really worship and what you really worship is what you will seek the most
Worship reorients our hearts to the will of God…We need to recognize that there is a King here every Sunday
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.
1 The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.
2 Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.
4 The King is mighty, he loves justice— you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right.
5 Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.
3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.
God is King whether we worship Him or not but when we worship Him we enthrone Him in our heart
Every day we tender our resignation and every day we worship Him as King
Every day when we pray, we dethrone ourselves…everyday we praise, we enthrone God
#3 WE MUST CHASE AFTER RADICAL RIGHTEOUSNESS
To live in the KOG then we must pursue a surpassing RIGHT
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
This RIGHT is not just skin deep…it goes all the way to the heart
Jesus said…you have heard it said do not murder…but the KOG goes deeper than that…don’t say a foul word to anybody and do not worship until you make things right with PPL
you have heard it said do not commit adultery…but the KOG goes deeper…do not let your eyes and your thoughts go to places that will dishonor your marriage
you have heard it said do not divorce unless you get the right paperwork…but the KOG goes deeper…keep your vows, save your marriage
you have heard it said love your friends and hate your enemies…but the KOG goes deeper…you pray for everybody and bless everybody…you do to others as you would have them do to you
In the KOG righteousness goes to a whole other level
We have too many worries to do this…we do not take Jesus seriously as a teacher…we take Him seriously as a Savior…we are counting on Him to get us into Heaven
We think He knows a lot about Heaven but not much about the real world…He doesn’t know what He is talking about
We domesticate Jesus…we like Jesus a little milder
If I gave my stuff to whoever needed it and didn’t ask for it back do know how many PPL would take advantage of me
If I do not store up for myself treasures on Earth then who will
The business world doesn’t work by doing unto others as you would them do unto you
Jesus knows about Heaven but I need someone with some more street sense to get me through this life
We accept Jesus but we do not really follow Him…if we took Him seriously then repentance would get real
Noting and no one would come before the KOG…We would pay any price for the KOG
43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.

45 And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.
That is extreme but Jesus calls us to an extreme life
The Gospel is not just about how to get saved but how to live…we need to stop being so worried
We are worried about the kingdoms that we cannot keep anyway
(ILL) EV Hill…preacher in LA…built a church in a rough part in LA…speaking at a large church in the south…very affluent…I know what is missing, y’all need some graffiti…TEMPORARY
None of this will last…we consult every kingdom when it comes to life but none will last but the KOG has a durable guarantee
(ILL) stand up…hold up your right hand and repeat after me…I do hereby resign, my right to the throne, a right that was never, really mine in the first place…tell your neighbor “I no longer think that I should rule the universe”
