Revelation 3:14–22 KJV
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Key Verse:
Revelation 3:17 KJV
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Topic: I Need Jesus
Why do I need Jesus?
Because I stand in need of a savior.
Romans 3:23 KJV
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Paul states earlier in the book of Romans:
Romans 3:9 KJV
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
All are under the power of sin. Whether you are Jew or Gentile.
He furthermore says:
Romans 3:10–18 KJV
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.
So even on your best day, you are a sinner, even on your best day.......you can fall into sin. And if we sin, if we willfully live in sin:
Romans 1:18 KJV
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
From this point, Paul begins to list series of sins from sexual immorality (homosexuality) to hate, envy, fighting, gossip, proud, boastful, disobedient to parents, heartless, having no mercy.
Then in verse 32 Paul writes:
Romans 1:32 KJV
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Then Romans 2:2 says:
Romans 2:2 KJV
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
Furthermore Paul states in chapter 2 verse 5:
Romans 2:5 KJV
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
One day God is going to judge sin. But Paul wrote again in chapter 1:17:
Romans 1:17 KJV
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:17 NLT
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
THE BAD NEWS!!! The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness.
THE BAD NEWS!!!
Romans 2:8 NLT
But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.
THE BAD NEWS:
Romans 2:12 NLT
When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God’s written law. And the Jews, who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it.
Because it is through him that I have a relationship with the Father.
It is through Him that I have forgiveness of sin.
He is the only one that can help me.
Because He is the supplier of my needs.
I need Him because it is through Him that I receive mercy and grace.
I need Him because He is a deliver, a healer, a provider, a battle-axe, a banner, peace,
Luke 5:31 KJV
And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
Luke 12:30 KJV
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
???
Psalm 19:10 KJV
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalm 37:4 KJV
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
2 Corinthians 5:2 KJV
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
Here, Paul illustrates the intense struggle that we have to be clothed with our house which is from heaven. We desire, or we should desire to be clothed with our house which is in heaven.
I learned this from my days of sports and from working out. When you work out or play sports there is a goal that you shoot for.
You want to lose x amount of weight by such and such time. You want to be able to bench-press, dead-lift, or squad x amount of weight. You may want to run the mile in x amount of time. There is a goal set before you. In order to reach that goal, you have to put forth intense effort. It doesn’t come easy. There are gonna be some times in which you grunt and groan to make it. But you have your goal set before you.
For the believer, heaven is our goal, and we have a home in heaven that we want to reach. And let me tell you, it isn’t an easy ticket getting to the goal. It’s going to take a lot of sacrifice, it’s going to take a lot of deny ourselves, and the only way we gonna make it is that WE NEED JESUS TO HELP US MAKE IT IN!!!
Don’t you put your faith and your trust in yourself. You need to keep your faith and your eyes on Jesus!!!
Hebrews 12:2 KJV
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
