The Acts of The Holy Spirit

Switching to the NLT Bible translation.
1 cor 13
When love is taken out then everything else is put in its place , envy hatred lust
1 Peter 4:8 “8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”
love is the realignment
maybe theres doctrinal issues
it was unforunate we had so many of our brothers and sister at the Bible museum but everyone stay with there group no love amounst the saint only distance and suspicion
John 13:35 “35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.””
not how much doctrine we have
you love for the church is a reflection of your love for God
The Acts of The Holy Spirit
The very foundation of the church is found in the book of Acts.
The book of Acts reveals that Christ story isn’t completed by observing the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. But His story continues in this book and in us!
- This books covers the span of 38 years from the miracle of pentecost to the martyrdom of Paul.
This book centers around two great crusades, the greater Jerusalem crusade Acts 1-12, led by Peter. And the global crusade led by Paul.
This record tells us of the first deacons, first martyrs ( James, and Stephen Acts 7:60, 12:2) , The first missionaries,
Believers where first called Christians at this time Acts 11:26
Luke is the author and hes writing to Theophilus, “ meaning friend of God, or loved of God.
The book of Acts is actually a second volume not written to communicate the end of Christ ministry, but the continuation of Christ ministry through The Holy Spirit and His church.
So the book of Acts is a sequel to the book of Luke.
Acts 1:1 NLT
1 In my first book I told you, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began to do and teach
Theophilus may have been Luke’s patron who financed the writing of Luke and Acts.
So it seems like Luke wanted Theophilus to fund and sponsor this work so it can reach out to a wider audience.
Theophilus was called most excellent or honorable Theophilus so he might had been governor of some sort. That was the name given to governors in the book of Acts. Luke 1:3 “3 Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus,”
Luke wrote this two book for clarity and certainty about what Theophilus has been taught.
Luke 1:4 “4 so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.”
B. What Jesus began to do and teach.
So the gospels is only what He began to do.
Mind you Jesus ascension is mentioned in the book of Luke
Though the work of Jesus physical ministry was completed at the cross as far as paying for the sins of the world. There is still much work that Christ is doing here on earth.
Phil 1:6 “6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Psalm 138: 8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
Acts 1:2 NLT
2 until the day he was taken up to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit.
Its referring to the ascension. The ascension is the climax of Jesus narrative. But here its referring to the beginning.
Jesus gave His disciples two instructions.
1. To remains in Jerusalem unto The Holy Spirit comes Luke 24:49 “49 “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.””
He told them to remain. Theres allot of people God is telling to remain be still.
Instead of us being established and being rooted in the truth
Col 2:7 “7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
Its easy not to stay. Its easy to leave. The work is involved in the staying.
2.They they where to go into the world and be witnesses.
Luke 24:47 “47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’”
Jesus was full of The Spirit and also empowered by The Spirit. Now He pouring out that Spirit to all who believed.
These two seem like the contradict one another but they where to be done sequentially.
Acts 1:3 NLT
3 During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.
