Effectual Prayer Pt. 3

James 5:16 NKJV
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Jesus’ temptation:
1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
You will not face a temptation that God has not already equipped you to overcome!
James 1:3 NKJV
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
He’s increasing your endurance
BE Faithful
NO less than 10 years
He challenges his identity
He tempts his flesh
He asks him to tempt God
Tempts his motives
We overcome by the Word of God:
He sustains us with HIS Word
SPOKEN WORD
Hebrews 1:3 NKJV
3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Everything hangs in the balance of OUR spoken Word
WE SPEAK
Faith Comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God
We can’t sustain ourselves by having heard, WE have to keep hearing
It’s a present tense encounter
You need faith for Today
What scriptures are you standing on for Today?
What are you picking up for today and what are you laying down?
Ask God what aspects of your life does he want you to give up and what should you be picking up?
Let’s talk about another Fast today
Nehemiah 1:2–3 NKJV
2 that Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. 3 And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”
Nehemiah heard about the problem
1. He recognized a need
Nehemiah 1:4 NKJV
4 So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
You understand that simply recognizing problems isn’t a spiritual gift
Don’t ask, What can I do? Ask what needs to be done?
2. Nehemiah was a play maker for God’s people
Nehemiah 1:5 NKJV
5 And I said: “I pray, Lord God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments,
3. He Prays and Reminds God of His promises
Nehemiah focus on God’s promises rather than the situation
Focus on what God said he would do in his word rather than magnifying the problem
Nehemiah 2:4–5 NKJV
4 Then the king said to me, “What do you request?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. 5 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.”
4. Send me into the problem
He prays that he can be sent into the problem
Rather than the problem be eliminated
Nehemiah 2:12 NKJV
12 Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me; I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem; nor was there any animal with me, except the one on which I rode.
God put a calling on his heart
There is no calling that you can possess which will allow you to skip out on the work
If you’re not willing to work, your calling doesn’t matter
Nehemiah 2:17–18 NKJV
17 Then I said to them, “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.” 18 And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. So they said, “Let us rise up and build.” Then they set their hands to this good work.
5. He gathered a team
You might have to do the praying alone
You might have to get the resource yourself
But you’re going to need a team for the Work
Don’t try and do it all by yourself
6. Remodeling/Rebuilding doesn’t happen over night
Talk about remodeling
It takes destruction before Beauty is recognized
7. People will want to attack or diminish your progress
Nehemiah 4:8–9 NKJV
8 and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. 9 Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.
8. You gotta remember what you’re fighting for
Nehemiah 8:14 NKJV
14 And they found written in the Law, which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths during the feast of the seventh month,
9. If you build God’s kingdom- the people will be restored
Nehemiah 7:4–5 NKJV
4 Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few, and the houses were not rebuilt. 5 Then my God put it into my heart to gather the nobles, the rulers, and the people, that they might be registered by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of those who had come up in the first return, and found written in it:
50K people came home
10. People can help you but no one can replace you
Exodus 17:10–12 NKJV
10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
We have to be playmakers
Ezekiel 22:30 NKJV
30 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.
Who are you standing in the Gap for
Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Dear God, I am a sinner.
I’m sorry for my sin; please forgive me.
I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son
and that He died for my sins
I believe You raised Him back to life.
I want to invite Jesus into my heart
today.
I’m make your Lord of my life
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
