of healing of the deaf-mute in 7:31–37 are similar to one another and are the only two miracles in Mark that are omitted by Matthew and Luke

v.24 He did not see clearly
Why didn't it work?
Did Jesus not do it right?
No! Jesus was using this as an illustration to the Blindness of the Disciples. In the Boat Jesus said 18 Do you have eyes and not see; Mk 8:18.
He sees men like trees.
He had sight before -Trachoma
Real cures didn't start to happen until the 1700’s
The idea of miracles -
19-22 Miracles in Mark More than any of the gospels in comparison to the number of chapters.
v.25 Jesus laid hands on him a second time and he could see clearly
Jesus was using this as an illustration to the Blindness of the Disciples.

The Bold Man - Peter

v.27 Jesus took Peter out of the village
Jesus asked “Who do people say that I am?” - They are blind
Jesus asked :Who do you say that I am?”
You are the Christ! - The Anointed One! - The King! - Peter could see, but not clearly.

15 “But you,” he asked them, “who do you say that I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah,, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he gave the disciples orders to tell no one that he was the Messiah.

4. Peter could see, but not clearly.

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But turning around and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! You are not thinking about God’s concerns but human concerns.”

The Basic Man - You

1. Jesus leads you to walk with him

44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.

2. You were blind- Jesus has given sight to the blind- We can see who Jesus is
The blindness of unbelievers in no way detracts from the clarity of the gospel; the sun is no less bright because blind men do not perceive its light.
John Calvin
AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND THAT SAVED A WRETCH LIKE ME. I ONCE WAS LOST BUT NOW I AM FOUND WAS BLIND BUT NOW I SEE!
3. We still see Jesus as a blur.

12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.

4. Your Sanctification
The triune God not only declares his children righteous but also progressively makes them righteous, setting them apart for himself and freeing them from the entanglements of sin. This process, referred to as “sanctification,” does not happen in a moment but is the ongoing work of God throughout the life of a believer. In “justification,” Christ’s righteousness is imputed to believers: it is reckoned to their account, judicially speaking. In sanctification, Christ’s righteousness is imparted: by the power of the Spirit, the converted sinner becomes more like Christ. The sinner is transformed in every area of his or her life: inward and outward, heart and action, relationships and purpose.
Sanctification is the work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
Jn 17:17–19 - Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. I sanctify myself for them, so that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
Ro 8:12–13 -So then, brothers and sisters, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh, because if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Ro 15:16 - to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of the gospel of God. God’s purpose is that the Gentiles may be an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
1 Co 1:2 -To the church of God at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called as saints, with all those in every place who call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord—both their Lord and ours.
1 Co 1:30 - It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption
Yet it is the Holy Spirit who applies this triune work, freeing and empowering believers to become like Christ (Rom 8:12–14; 15:16; 2 Thess 2:13; Titus 3:5; 1 Pet 1:2
