Life without end
Video on eternal life
And this is another fine day in the Lord
John 5:20–24 (ESV) — 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
Salvation begins with due respect for the one and only one who can raise one from the dead and bestow upon that one eternal life. Two fold, for though Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, Lazarus still died. But this life is a life everlasting with no future prospect of death ever again.
I was speaking to a man last week as he brought up one argument after another in what I judged as not so much as attacking my faith but defending his unbelief. He kept coming back again and again to religion and the church, As I kept trying to persuade him it is not about church and religion or even what he thought about the bible at this moment but the fact is that he is going to die and where will he spend eternity, and that depended upon not what he does with God which he has been mad at since I have known him, but what he does with God’s son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Oh, I meet many who stakes there salvation on believing God. But how many actually profess his son. I have had conversations with many evangelicals and when our church and God talk goes to the person of Jesus, I notice that the conversation seems to fizzle out or the one that I am talking to changes the subject.
Leaves me to ask, “are they embarrassed to talk about Jesus?”
There is a single road that gets to God and that is through the Son. There is no other way. Jesus told his disciples prior to his ascension.
Matthew 28:18 (ESV) — 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Not some authority, but all authority and that means the authority delegated by the King whom the Jews even in their prayers acknowledges the one who is the sovereign creator and the one who gives life.
So while we may possess God consciousness, and we may seek to live a moral life as unto God, and may even feel that we are good and noble citizens of the world, without acknowledging and bowing a knee to Jesus trusting in Him as the bridge between us And God, we are as dead in Him as the worst of all sinners who is deserving of death. Hell will be filled with not only the immorally wicked but the self-righteous who depended upon their own value system to save them.
τιμάω timaō 21× to estimate in respect of worth; to hold in estimation, respect, honor, reverence, Mt. 15:4, 5, 8; 19:19; Mk. 7:10; to honor with reverent service, Jn. 5:23 (4×); 8:49; to treat with honor, manifest consideration towards, Acts 28:10; to treat graciously, visit with marks of favor, Jn. 12:26; mid. to price, Mt. 27:9 [5091] See honor; value.
The fellow that I spoke of, boldly dismisses Jesus, and he says that Budism is more appealing to him. It is peaceful, not like the back biting hypocrites that you find in church. And that he believes that if you do right by your fellow man that that is all one needs in life. Paraphrasing
My only reply was.
“Are you willing to stake forever on that conclusion. Because forever with no hope of repentance is a long time to be wrong.”
Budha or no other representative will be standing before the throne of the Lord Jesus Christ, the great white throne to represent you. You will be all on your own before the one whom you discounted as one who in the window of time could acquit you from all crimes against God.
If the King has the power of life or death and I am in his court and all he has to do with barely a nod, to cast me into the dungeon of eternal flames I am going to accredit him (believing Pisteuo) with the power also to grant me life. if I am looking into the possibility of spending eternity in the worship punishment ever, I am going to fall and plead to the king to grant me life. I’m certainly not going to test him to see if he can will do it or not.
This is the day that Joshua says to chose whom you will serve. Whom you will honor as being your King who grants life or death.
He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
Luke 10:16 (ESV) — 16 “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
1 John 2:23–25 (ESV) — 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life.
What must you know to be saved?
That is like asking how intellectually you must be to be saved. If I don’t get an “A” on my quiz will I die and go to hell?
Its not a matter of what you know as much as it is your willingness to honor to place value in that which has been revealed to you.
To the thief on the cross who expressed his belief in the authority of the Christ next to him, Jesus did not ask him what is it that he knew theologically or what church he attended or what good had he done. It was simply that you will be with me in Paradise.
Death is more than an intellectual process. It is a reality. You and I are going to die. And it is the Lord who has revealed the fact that he has authority to raise one from the dead and to give eternal life.
I can pull out a hundred-dollar bill from my wallet and offer it to you. how much do you need to know about that hundred dollar bill to receive it. Only that by putting value in it and receiving it does it make richer.
Jesus, as God, has the power to raise from the dead, to forgive sins, and to bestow eternal life.
We have the determination of choice volition to honor the one who is king and authority of all or we can reject him all together.
John 5:24 (ESV) — 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 3:18–19 (ESV) — 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
As Adam did not die immediately physically but died spiritually first.
honoring the son as The one who has authority over life and death and receiving the grace that he offers from his throne, the spiritual life is restored, regeneration and spares each of us who have believed the second or eternal death.
Your arguments are not valid. The question is…
Are you willing to submit to the authority that offers to those who honor him life without end.
