Today’s question: “In what way will believers be judged by Jesus?”
Many of us probably know that the Bible speaks of a Judgement Day - but as you read the Bible it seems there is more being judged than just where you spend eternity – specifically for believers.
To answer this question, let’s look at the scriptures and see what they are saying -
There is a judgement coming and everyone will be judged, including believers (see also 2 COR 5:10)
Those who love Jesus and submit to Him, do not need to fear the judgement of Jesus (see also Romans 8:1)
For the believer, the final judgement will evaluate what we have done with what Jesus has given to us – We’ll look at some examples of crowns and rewards in a moment…
The expectation of Jesus’ judgement should motivate us to be faithful and diligent with what He has given us – working for God and not for men
In Conclusion…
If we follow Jesus we do not need to fear judgement, because our eternity is secured by His work,
but His judgement should motivate us to work for the eternal rewards that come from Him and not the temporary rewards that we can have now.
*Scripture references crowns like those of righteousness, of glory, of rejoicing, of life, and the incorruptible crown*
[Awarded for things like faithfulness, enduring suffering and persecution, showing kindness to the poor, receiving the word of God, loving your enemies, good works, and teaching others to follow Jesus]
Remember - we are accountable to God for what WE do with what He has given US
What is our NEXT STEP?
Evaluate your motives – why do you do what you do?
To please others?
Yourself?
Or God?
