What do you think is so compelling about sin?
Here is the thing with freedom, it isn’t free.
Here is the reality of man ypeople in our world.
Unfortunatley people in our world have taken God’s grace for granted.
They think “Because God has forgiven me, nothing can happen to me”
“I am going to be in heaven because I prayed a prayer.”
But the reality is that though these people prayed a prayer they cannot go on with sin.
Paul said “What then?
are we to sin because we are under grace?
by no means”
What do you think that statement meant?
You see, Paul understood that even though sin would always be knocking on his door he couldn’t partake in sin.
Sin was not a “Oh he will just forgive me” sort of thing.
Sin was something he knew that the God he had trusted told him to not partake in.
Sin was something that he knew would lead him away from God.
Sin was something that Paul knew was going to kill him.
But we have so many today that think they are living for Jesus but they aren’t
They think that they are serving him but they don’t know what it means to serve him.
their are two major definitions to freedom, can anyone tell me what those are?
the first definition, freedom is “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.”
Basically, it means you can think, say, or do whatever you want.
The second definition said freedom is “the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.”
now some of us may have heard the term, enslaved to sin.
Being enslaved to our sin is in essence being held captive by our sin.
We cannot be free while also sinning.
Freedom doesn’t live in those who live in sin.
Freedom lives in those who live for Jesus.
In fact, if anyone thinks they are saved but the fruit of their life isn’t showing it that person needs to make things right with our God.
Perhaps they were never saved to start with.
Now you may think “now hold on Brandon, haven’t you told us that once we are saved Jesus Christ has us in his grace”
Absolutely he does.
Here is the difference however in a saved Christian and an unsaved person who thinks they are a christian.
A saved christian seeks not to sin, sure they fall but they do not live in sin.
They do not find themselves sinning just because grace abounds as paul says.
A unsaved fake christian sin’s and has no remorse.
Or they sin and just keep on sinning never doing anythign about it.
so the real question today is simple
Who do you serve?
