We talked about, you know Pharaoh in the armies of Egypt pursuing the Israelites.
And if you guys want to follow teacher Ryan out there for a children's church, today, she's going on out, you can but we talked about how the Army's pursued them to the Red Sea and how God, parted the Red Seas, and provided a way out that no one would have expected.
But then how he also used that to wipe out their enemies?
So that they would never have to deal with them again.
you know, we may not be Getting chased down by the Chariots of pharaoh.
But yet we all have battles, we all have struggles that we deal with everyday.
At the very least, we deal with our fallen World, in our own Fallen sinful human nature on a daily basis.
you know, when the armies of pharaoh started to come over the hill, we heard Moses say to the people in Exodus, 14:13 and 14, Moses answered.
The people do not be afraid.
Stand firm, and you will see the Deliverance.
The Lord will bring you today.
The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.
The Lord will fight for you.
You need only to be still
You know, whoever our enemy b, b, whatever.
Struggles, we might face the Lord will fight for you.
You know, fool trusts the Lord to enough to stand still in the midst of all the turmoil and all the chaos that goes on in the world around us.
It doesn't matter then if it's the Egyptians or other problems, other obstacles, other conflicts in our life, those problems that we see today.
Those challenges that we face today, don't have to plague us for the rest of our lives.
As Moses said about Egyptians, you know, the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.
We can also put many of those conflicts behind us.
And you know the thing that kind of Marvel at with this passage is that, you know, if you think about it, this passage was written long before.
Jesus died on the cross.
But yet it reminds us that Jesus has already fought those battles for us that Jesus has already defeated sin and death.
We only need to be still.
During those times.
And sometimes If we're honest, most of the time that's the hard part, isn't it?
Cuz when we Face challenges, when we Face problems, we think that that means that we must instantly spring into action.
I want everyone to close their eyes for a minute.
Just Close Your Eyes.
Everyone got their eyes closed.
No peeking.
Okay.
Now don't start thinking about lunch.
Don't think about that, juicy steak, that you might have for that wonderful, flaky fish, or all the different types of pizza that are on the buffet.
And don't think about that ice cold drink, that you're going to use it all to wash it all down.
Now, how many of you are hungry?
Yeah, I got smallest one.
Stuck their hands up there.
you can open your eyes, but, you know, What I told you not to think about that stuff.
What happened?
You start thinking about it, don't you?
You know what?
I'm fortunately that's so often what we do in our spiritual lives.
We start making lists of the stuff that we cannot do the stuff.
We cannot think about, and then what happens?
We begin to focus on those things.
We begin to dwell on those things.
Those things start to occupy most of our thoughts and no matter what we're doing.
It seems our thoughts.
Keep going back to those things and all too.
Often the more we think about those things, the more were focused on those things.
And over time we can even start to think.
Well that's not all that bad or all that wrong.
It may become interested in those things.
And before we know it the very thing we were trying to avoid Has malpractice.
We're thinking about it all the time.
Not just part of the time.
And you know, our main scripture today, from Romans chapter 7, I think is probably one of the passages of scripture that might be the most relatable passage and all of scripture.
I think the Apostle Paul hit it on the head with this one.
Romans chapter 7 verses 14 through 25.
We know that the law is spiritual.
But I am unspiritual sold as a slave to sin.
I do not understand what I do for what I want to do.
I do not do, but what I hate, I do.
and if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
As it is, it is no longer.
I myself who did it, but it is sin, living in me.
I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is in my sinful nature.
I have the desire to do, what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
Frye, do not do the good, I want to do but the evil I do not want to do.
This I keep on doing.
Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do but it is send in me.
That does it.
So, I find this law at work.
Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
For, in my inner being, I Delight in God's law, but I see another law at work in me, Waging War against the law of my mind, and making me a prisoner of the Lawson at work within me.
What a Wretched Man?
I am.
Who will rescue me from this body?
That is subject to death.
Thanks be to God.
Who delivers me through.
Jesus Christ.
Our Lord.
So then I myself and my mind and a slave to God's law, but in my sinful nature as slave to the law of sin,
Mean, as you read through that, there's just parts of it.
I think that all of us can admit that it one time or another.
Those things have seemed very, very real, very true to us.
That very thing we're trying to avoid Becomes our focus, our Obsession our new hobby, even sometimes.
I mean, the struggle is real and we need to face that.
So, how do we prevent this stuff from happening?
All too often people say you know incredibly useful things to his like will just start thinking about different stuff.
Or think about holy things or how many of you are still thinking about lunch?
I like it, we got honesty.
You know, the struggle is real.
And if the Bible tells us what we should and should not do, but thinking about what we should not do leads us into those things, what really is the purpose of the lawn and that's what the Apostle Paul is trying to get at and talking about this.
You know, what really is the reason that we study God's word that we look at it, because
you know, if it's just going to lead us down the path to problems, wouldn't we be better not to
