Last week we looked at the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation and the Hope of His Calling and the believers calling.
There is so much wrapped up in that - It is amazing.
I touched on our inheritance on Wednesday Evening.
We are going to touch it again and center on the power of God.
Ephesians 1:19–23 ESV
19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

INHERITANCE

Salvation - You are his inheritance
Every promises blessing - also what he has he will share with you.
psalms 28:9 “9 Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.”
Those two words Riches and Glory - can be translated abundance and honor
Your future is rich and wonderful.
How many of you feel rich but don’t have alot.
A father with loving children is a rich man
A wife with a loving husband is a rich wife and the other way around
You see God is honored to have you as his inheritance and you having God as yours.
All speak of the glory of God, the power of God and the Love of God

POWER

- it comes from the Greek word for dynamo and dynamite.
Gods power is his power – He is all powerful
I am going to try to keep in context with this passage but this would be an amazing study.
First it says God’s power is immeasurable.
If this is true - Why do we think God can’t do it? (especially when we pray for someone)
It was also the power to Christ to empty himself and then then Gods power raised Him up
Philippians 2:6–11 NASB95
6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This power is seen in four different pieces.
- He is resurrection,
John 11:25–26 ESV
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
exaltation,
Acts 2:33 ESV
33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
Lordship,
John 20:28 NASB95
28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
Headship
Colossians 1:18 NASB95
18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
When we look back at verse 22 we see christ is the head of the church which is the fullness of Christ
So in reality the church is a powerful institution.
It is made of of People who are filled with the Holy Spirit - That means you.
Acts 1:8 ESV
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
His power to us is conditional (in most cases with the exception of Lazarus)– what is the condition – we must have faith and we must believe
If you don’t believe it yu wont rely on it. You will live life in your own strength and that will be it.
Vs 22 also says Jesus has s All things are put under His feet
Christ is the –
SOURCE of Wealth
Sufficiency for Walk
Strength in Warfare - He is the fullness of the Church
The Church is filled with the Spirit as you are filled with the Spirit
Filled unto all fullness with God
Filled with Christ - Fullness of Christ
Colossians 2:9–10 ESV
9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
We as Christians must understand Christ is the head not you and your not the neck that turns the head either. You are called out, separated from the world, the flesh and the devil, you identify with Christ in His death, resurrection and ascension.
When you have Christ, you have everything you need.
Conclusion:
Job in Ch 42 said now I know you can do all things
“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You; Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes.”
