Introduction

1 Thessalonians 5:21 NASB95
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
When we find discrepansies in our paycheck/schooling/work area. . .we examine it carefully.
We do not let it slide, because we realize this can affect us in a negative way.
In the same way, our spiritual life can be negatively affected when we fail to examine the things that around us and in us.
One thing we need to examine carefully is JESUS!

Body

Jesus is God - The fullness of the Godhead was in Him

Heb 1:1-3 “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”

Jesus was man - This had to happen, no other way

Though He was fully God He was fully man
Heb 2:14-15 “Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.”
Heb 2:17 “Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”

Jesus is Saviour - Because He is God and endured as a man, He became the perfect saviour

Heb 2:10 “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.”
Heb 5:8-9 “Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,”

Jesus is Judge - One day He’s coming back to take account

Acts 17:30-31 ““Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.””
