This Week’s Theme: He is Just
This Week’s Word is Justice: The moral righteousness of God is revealed in his laws and expressed in his judicial acts. God’s commands and judgments meet perfect standards of justice, and his apportioning of punishments and rewards is also perfectly just. God’s justice is impartial.
Memory Verse: Psalm 111:7 “7 The works of His hands are verity and justice; All His precepts are sure.”
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: Elihu questioned and corrected Job about the justice of God.
Sermon Proposition: As saints we are called to correct others about the justice of God
Sermon Objective: I want those in attendance to put together a list of things that have happen to you and how God was just in His dealings with you.
Sermon Text: Job 34:10-15
10 “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to commit iniquity.
11 For He repays man according to his work, And makes man to find a reward according to his way.
12 Surely God will never do wickedly, Nor will the Almighty pervert justice.
13 Who gave Him charge over the earth? Or who appointed Him over the whole world?
14 If He should set His heart on it, If He should gather to Himself His Spirit and His breath,
15 All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust.
INTRODUCTION:
TRANSITION:
I. DEFEND God’s Justice
I. DEFEND God’s Justice
Job 27:2; Job 34:3-5, 10, 12; Malachi 2:17;
JOB QUESTIONED THE JUSTICE OF GOD
2 “As God lives, who has taken away my justice, And the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,
JOB STATED THAT GOD TOOK AWAY HIS JUSTICE AND GOD HAS MADE HIS SOUL BITTER.
MAYBE YOU HAVE OPERATED LIKE THE ISRAELITES IN MALACHI’S DAY WHO WEARIED THE LORD WITH THEIR WORDS. LOOK AT MALACHI 2:17
17 You have wearied the Lord with your words; “Yet you say, “In what way have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “Everyone who does evil Is good in the sight of the Lord, And He delights in them,” Or, “Where is the God of justice?”
GOD’S PEOPLE OUGHT TO BE WEARIED IF GOD IS WEARIED THIS IS WHY ELIHU DESIRED TO TEST JOB’S WORDS BECAUSE IT BOTHERED HIM. LOOK AT VERSE 3 OF CHAPTER 34.
3 For the ear tests words As the palate tastes food.
4 Let us choose justice for ourselves; Let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 “For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, But God has taken away my justice;
HEAR HIS RESPONSE IN VERSE 10
10 “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to commit iniquity.
ELIHU STATED IF YOU HAVE UNDERSTANDING, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IT IS CRAZY TO THINK THAT GOD DOES WICKEDLY OR WRONG.
12 Surely God will never do wickedly, Nor will the Almighty pervert justice.
INSTEAD OF DOUBT GOD’S JUSTICE HE DEFENDED GOD’S JUSTICE
DON’T DOUBT GOD’S JUSTICE DEFEND GOD’S JUSTICE
DON’T DOUBT GOD’S JUSTICE DEFEND GOD’S JUSTICE
II. DEMONSTRATE GOD’S JUSTICE
II. DEMONSTRATE GOD’S JUSTICE
Micah 6:8; Job 34:11, 19, 21; Deuteronomy 10:17;
SEEN IN GOD’S CHARACTER
SEEN IN GOD’S CHARACTER
19 Yet He is not partial to princes, Nor does He regard the rich more than the poor; For they are all the work of His hands.
21 “For His eyes are on the ways of man, And He sees all his steps.
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.
SEEN IN GOD’S CONDUCT
SEEN IN GOD’S CONDUCT
11 For He repays man according to his work, And makes man to find a reward according to his way.
19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
SEEN IN GOD’S COMMAND
SEEN IN GOD’S COMMAND
17 You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.’
22 Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;
23 For the Lord will plead their cause, And plunder the soul of those who plunder them.
3 You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.
CAN YOU SUM IT UP FOR ME. WHAT DOES GOD REQUIRE. LOOK AT
8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?
WHAT AM I TRYING TO SAY
DON’T DISPROVE GOD’S JUSTICE DEMONSTRATE GOD’S JUSTICE
DON’T DISPROVE GOD’S JUSTICE DEMONSTRATE GOD’S JUSTICE
YES HE AFFLICTED ME BUT SAY LIKE THE PSALMIST IN
Psalm 119:71 “71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.”
YES HE DISCIPLINED ME BUT DEMONSTRATE THAT
Hebrews 12:11 “11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
YES THERE IS A REASON FOR THE HURT, THE CUTS, THE MARING, THE RUINS, THE HARMING, BROKENNESS.
YES YOUR SIN CAUSED GOD TO HURT YOU
NOW YOU SEE YOUR HURT MADE IT SO HE COULD HEAL YOU
GOD CUT YOU SO HE COULD CURE YOU
GOD MARRED YOU SO HE COULD MEND YOU
GOD RUINED YOU SO HE COULD RESTORE YOU
HE HARMED YOU SO HE COULD HELP YOU
HE BROKE YOU SO HE COULD BLESS YOU
