opener - Dry cleaners, “one hour cleaner” You know we have the word Apostolic on us or oneness, or Jesus name ONLY, but sometimes it really does not mean anything. It is just a name we call ourselves.
Apostolic - Sending forth on their journey
Sending an Ambassador
Ambassadors of the United States are persons nominated by the president to serve as the country's diplomatic representatives to foreign nations, international organizations, and as ambassadors-at-large. Under Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, their appointment must be confirmed by the United States Senate.
When Rome was conquering the world, they would send ambassadors to foreign and every city, village they would come across they would flip up upside town. They would change the culture, language, everything to confirm to Rome. So that at the end it, looked like Rome, smelled like Rome and even tasted like Rome.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Mark 12:28–31 (KJV 1900)
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Now the Mosaic Law contained 613 commandments (not just the 10 that we know of.)
When Jesus is being asked “ which is first commandment?”
The question was not about the matter of temporal chronology. Jesus was not being asked what was the first
commandment that God ever gave.
They were not asking a question about chronology, but rather priority.
Out of all the commandments, Jesus said “there is NONE other commandment greater than these.”
I recently traveled all the way to NC for training for my secular job.
They packed those 2 days with training, hours upon hours of training
the instructor at the end of each session he would basically say, “ the most important thing to note is ______.
Basically, you are probably going to forget everything else, but at least remember this.
That is basically what Jesus told the scribes is that out of all the other 63 mosaic commandments it does not matter as much compared to These two. Other version says, “On these two hang all the commandments”
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart:
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Statutes means "mandates," "precepts," "rules," deriving from a root that means "engraved" or "permanent."
In other words the commandments that God had established for his people (which is us) we are to engrave them into our hearts, permanently!
Engraved -
We are plainly told that the commandments were "the writing of God, graven upon the tables." These tables were flat, thin pieces of stone. Also the names of the children of Israel, worn upon the high priest's shoulders, were to be engraved on different sorts of precious stone, with the work of an engraver.
Examples
Examples
And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel:
And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.
The reason for this was that letters were engraved or cut into these hard substances that they might last, and not be rubbed out like common writing.
Are Gods precepts/Laws engraved in your heart?
Are Gods precepts/Laws engraved in your heart?
Better questions is,
It is engraved on a rock (being Christ the chief cornerstone or is it engraved in the sand?
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
“Whosoever hears his words, and does them!”
Are his laws engraved in you heart church?
Or are they engraved in the sand, and when the winds blows and the storms come his word is wiped away, therefore you have no solid foundation or substance. That is where:
burn outs take place
you give in
you give up
throw in the towel
you feel like there Is no hope for you
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead
In the rock for ever!
For I know that my redeemer liveth,
And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
And though after my skin worms destroy this body,
Yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Whom I shall see for myself,
And mine eyes shall behold, and not another;
Though my reins be consumed within me.
All that he went through (what was his substance was that Gods word was engraved in him)
Today I want to briefly speak on 2 (1 being 2) precepts that God spoke about, that essential that we must also apply and practice in our lives.
POINT # 1: GOD IS ONE
POINT # 1: GOD IS ONE
“Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one God”

“John 10:25, 30, 33 (NIV)
“Jesus answered…’I and the Father are one.’…’We are not stoning you for any good work,’ they replied, ‘but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.’“

The One God, an invisible Spirit, promised to be our Savior. God was manifested in the flesh. All the fullness of God dwells bodily in Christ.
I am the Lord: that is my name:
And my glory will I not give to another,
Neither my praise to graven images.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Jesus was praying in view of His upcoming crucifixion. He had come into the world to offer His life as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity Matthew 26:28 He knew that the time had come for Him to fulfill this plan. His flesh naturally shrank from the upcoming agony,
but He knew that this was the supreme, perfect will of God for Him. As He had said earlier in John 12:27, contemplating His death, "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour" (NKJV).
The glory to which Jesus referred in John 17:1,5 was the glory that He as a man would receive by submitting to the plan of God through the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. Immediately after the statement of John 12:27 Jesus prayed, "Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again" (John 12:28). Jesus then explained,
"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die" (John 12:32) God glorified Christ by lifting Him up before all the world on the cross.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
But to God wasn’t a curse, but his glory!
I can’t imagine, the creator of the world bore all of our shame and did not take the easy way out, he didn’t send the second person in the Trinity.
We love him, because he first loved us
We love him, because he first loved us
What God demonstrated on the cross, but the biggest act on LOVE.
Not because the pain and shame he endured
That is why we love him
“ Love the Lord your God will all your heart, Soul and mind”
Stretched to Capacity (Nugget - Wineskin) new birth blood - water
Stretched to Capacity (Nugget - Wineskin) new birth blood - water
POINT #2: LOVE YOUR GOD, BUT WHY?
POINT #2: LOVE YOUR GOD, BUT WHY?
He came himself
He came himself
He died is the most horrific way possible and most shameful way.
They placed a crown of thorns upon his head
Crown of thorns - Grief, sorrow and anxiety - healing of you mind
Who hath believed our report?
And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of a dry ground:
He hath no form nor comeliness;
And when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He is despised and rejected of men;
A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
And we hid as it were our faces from him;
He was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs,
And carried our sorrows:
Yet we did esteem him stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities:
The chastisement of our peace was upon him;
And with his stripes we are healed.
In Greek there are four words for love:
In Greek there are four words for love:
Storge - affection - Natural inclination towards something - like coffee, the familiar, comfort. Most common love.
Also - family love such as.
Noahs mutual protection for his wife sons and DIL’S.
Jacob for his sons
mary and Martha love for their brother
romans 12:10
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Philia - friendship - deep friendship love like David and johnathan. you have to cultivate friendship. It starts movements. Shoulder to shoulder let works on something.
Eros - love between the sexes - Lovers are always to one another about their love and always face to face (not shoulder to shoulder like Philia ) absorb in each other. It is also a sexual love and passionate love.
Agape - The highest form of Love. Selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional Love; persist, no matter the circumstances.
Always giving and devotes total commitment to seek the highest and best. Less of need love, but a give love.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
We are to love God in the Agape way!
Because that is the way he loved us!
Because that is the way he loved us!
But, It is a process
It kinda like the love you have for your And how your kids love you
that baby, parents would give their life for that infant, you feed it, sleepless nights (don’t miss those) the mother sacrifices her body and put herself through suffering to bare this child and all for the child to just see you as the person that feeds me, changes my diapers, puts me to sleep.
Thats all they see
but as they begin to grow and understand and things more and begin to interact they begin to draw affection towards you.
many little girls want to marry their dads and boys their moms
“To love means to open ourselves to suffering. Shall we shut our doors to love, then and ‘be safe’?”
“To love means to open ourselves to suffering. Shall we shut our doors to love, then and ‘be safe’?”
I cannot tel you how many times I think what would happen if I lost my wife and child, i wouls be lying to you and say id be okay, truth id be a shattered mess and broKEN.
Id be lying to you if i the thoughts of fear of having another child and how the world is shifting me not being there or seeing my kids suffer how that would break me.
There is no doubt that Gods love is powerful That he is an awesome God
But in loving him, we also face suffering
i know this isn’t a Joel Osteen preaching or mainstream preaches that preaches what you want to hear
its a process, God knows that
its a process, God knows that
Just like when you met your wife, sure she was the most beautiful thing you ever saw, but as you got to know her more and more you fall in love with her to the point, you wanted to spend the rest of your life with her . You’d
do anything For her! You did not care how foolish you look, as lone as you put a smile on her face, that is all that
mattered.
Then when she bore your children, my lord and how she loves your kids you grow even deeper in love with her!
The same way it is with God, the more you spend time with God the more you love him and wanted to
spend time with him.
Sub point 1: Love your God
Sub point 1: Love your God
C.S. Lewis once said:
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.
Have you ever opened your heart to a relationship or friendship not let you heart broken?
Some people can’t even recover from that or are steel feeling the affects
Love means to open our hearts to pain and suffering
the alternative would be is to be alone forever
However we were not made to void the feeling of emotion
we naturally desire companionship, affection, and fellowship
However all of this requires for us to open up our hearts, and soul to others
Even though we are susceptible to pain yet we do it anyways
Elisabeth Elliot knew better than most what it meant to love and lose. In The Path of Loneliness she writes,
Sub point 2: How should we love God?
Sub point 2: How should we love God?
“With all your heart, soul and mind.”
Heart - Lev - not a reference to the heart this in in here. It is the place of where you think and make sense of life. Where you feel emotions and make choices.
Solomon says, “Above everything else, Guard your heart.”
the heart determines what are the priorities in your life
The heart is where love, passion and hope and faith, charity, dreams, desire and pursuits are.
You heart is the center of everything in your life
whatever you feed your heart, that is what you think, speak, desire, want and pursue
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
My son, give me thine heart,
And let thine eyes observe my ways.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who shall stand in his holy place?
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
“your best life now” Really?
“your best life now” Really?
Ask:
Paul - when he was shipwrecaked, prison, thorn in the flesh,
Peter - Crucified upside down
Joseph - went to prison falsely accused
Early Christian’s - martyred for the love of God
Jesus - even told God “why has thou forsaken me.
Jesus told his disciples if you want to follow me, you must take up your cross (suffering) and follow me
“From whom the lord Loveth he chasteneth “
But in loving him we have an eternal reward!
Everlasting life, love, joy peace, his presence, etc
His love is better than life! The disciples counted in an honor to die for this cause of Christ
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me
Sub point 2: Pursue him with you heart through
Sub point 2: Pursue him with you heart through
Side note: the is a vast difference in Being with God and Doing for God
Side note: the is a vast difference in Being with God and Doing for God
wanna know why people get:
burn out in their ministry and wanna quit
see these happen within the church and want leave
they lose the joy of God and no longer want to attend church
its because they haven’t realized that “doing for God” and “being for God” are not the same thing!
They serve the ministry and never had a relationship with God
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
A. pursuing his presence - In the O.T. And often times in N.T. The word presence refers to the face of God. The face of God is a sign of Gods favor over you.
Joy center in the brain that is trained and activated by the face of care givers. You when you hold an infant you make faces and noises and says things you would not to anyone else. There is something in that’ process that activates joy in the child.
It’s the shining face of the father that teaches us real joy.
But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, “Have courage, daughter! Your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that hour.
Jacob wrestled with God
God changed his name / Israel
Jacob says I’ve have seen the face of God
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice:
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,
Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
B. His word
Many times we desire more the word from the preacher
God desire to you read his word directly!
It is written - is what helped Jesus endure the temptation
Quotes verses of the word of God
Ruth - Bethlehem - house of bread house of Bread
Mahlon - from the root chalah, “to be sick.” “unhealthy,
sickly.”
Chilion – “wasting” or “puny.”
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
POINT # 3: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF
POINT # 3: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF
The reason why God allows us to suffer is so that we love those and pray with compassion.
Neigh - near buer - dwell
2. Discipleship - mentors - not doing more but seeking GOD - the gathering
3. Peter - feed my sheep - agape - Philia friendgip
Wining the lost is hard work! The order is if you love god you Will love people!
Why does God allows us to go through grief, sorrow, so that we can relate to other
you would have never prayed with compassion for someone if you never gone through the same
Jesus dealt with grief as well:
he mourned over his friends Lazarus’s
he wept of Jerusalem because they forsook
he was betrayed
he was tempted
his own so called friends all abondment him when he really needed them except john
he was distressed
he was mocked, shamefully
etc
all so that he could relate to you and i
all so that he could relate to you and i
Man who rescued 669 jewish form the Nazi’s can you imagine what he felt?
Church doesnt be boring if we got into the business of winning the lost
CONCLUSION:
CONCLUSION:
And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
matthew 13: 10-13
And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
He told the apostles - we are APOSTOLIC!
ITs BEEN GIVEN TO YOU!
