Romans 3:1-20, The Way of Salvation
Roman 3:1-20, The Way of Salvation
The way of salvation is through God’s righteousness. All are guilty before God. [Romans 3:12: They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one].
Apart from God men are evil. No one can be justified by the Law. It is our schoolmaster. The Law did not justify. Salvation is not works but by faith.
From judgment to justification. The Law will not save us but only God’s righteousness. Salvation is free, but it cost Jesus Christ His shed blood. [Romans 3:20-21: Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets].
We are saved through faith by Jesus Christ. Salvation is available to all through faith in Jesus Christ. Only Jesus Christ lived a life without sinning. [Romans 3:22: Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference].
All have sinned. [Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God].
God is satisfied--propitiation. [Romans 3:25-26: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus]. God’s righteousness is by faith. We are not saved by the Law.
Faith is the way of salvation. God revealed righteousness apart from the Law. [Romans 3:27-28: Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law].
God is God of all who trust in Him. [Romans 3:29-30: Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith].
Faith does not make the Law void because it pointed them to a Savior to bring us to Christ. The Law brings conviction of sin. [Romans 3:31: Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law].
