The Confidence Of The Charge

2 Tim 4:1 “I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:”

Charge - commission authorize to perform a duty.

God chose you and commissioned you for a special task.

It won’t be something you can do, but it is something He can do through you.

Our lives are our sermon. We are all preachers.

The Charge

2 Tim 4:2 “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”

Preach the word,

Be ready in season and out,

reprove, convince. Not just prove, I’m going to reprove.

rebuke, correct demons, straying disciples,

exhort, “call to one’s side,” hence, “call to one’s aid.”

with patience and teaching using the Holy Scripture (2 Tim 3:14-17)

“we will be held accountable for our area of influence.”

The Reason For The Charge

2 Tim 4:3-4 “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”

Matthew 24:12 because lawlessness wil lincrease the love of many will grow cold. THE ONE WHO ENDURES TO THE END WILL BE SAVED. James 1:12

The Condition Of The Charge

2 Tim 4:5 “As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”

be soberminded, free from influence of intoxicants

endure suffering, do when it is inconvenient

do the work of an evangelist, share the Good news

fulfill your ministry, not just start but complete your ministry without settling for less.

God is a Finisher, so are you.
