The Question
A: When we read
John 14: 6 Jesus saith..., I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. You may think, is there any chance a Godless person can be saved? What about the Bushman from Africa or the Yaifo from Papua New Guinea? Is it even fair that they will not have a chance just because they were born where no missionary can find them? What about the Europenes or Inca’s 1500 years back?
Introduction
A: Today, we have [B] joining me in our discussion on Will the Godless go to heaven?
B: What a good question. How does Jesus judge those tribes who never heard about Him? Is it just too bad? Is it hopeless?
A: Let's read one more verse to make the situation even worse:
Acts 4:12
“12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none another name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” We can honestly only be saved through Jesus Christ
B: Can’t we be saved via Mary? She must influence Christ. Or maybe Moses?
A: We have no Biblical proof for it. The Bible is very clear, only through Jesus, it stipulates very clearly:” none other Name”, which implies no other person/God can save you except through Jesus Christ alone. Therefore, not even through Buddha or Mohamed can you be saved/go to Heaven.
B: So, is there no hope for the person who does not come to Christ? Is heaven only for the blessed or lucky ones who were born in the right place and right time? Did Christ not create all humans on the planet?
A: Yes, according to
John 1:3
were all things created by Him, this includes all people. And this is the amazing thing about the Bible. It is not just a mere book; it is the inspired word of God.
A: Think of the Bible as one big amazing painting. All of its verses/sentences are stripes of the big painting. All of them are in harmony. Nothing in the Bible is not in harmony. Sometimes some verses stand in contrast with each other, and then that is the outline of the picture, and the concepts between the two extremes form the image of that concept. In the end, the greater picture, painted by the Word of God, paints the picture of God.
A: Here again, we find a contrast explaining this truth, this picture of God and His saving grace further. Read to us Romance 2;12-16;
B: Rom 2.12-16 “12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”
B: So the gentiles are Godless people?
A: Gentiles are all who are not Israelites, all who are not part of the faith. This implies that God works with all who are Godless as well. Whether they are Bushman, or Yaifo or Muslim or Hindu. God is working with them all.
Rom 3:29
“29 Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:” Jesus is God of all nations. As we’ve read, He is every single human being on this planet's judge. He judges our actions according to His law. The typical Christian knows sin because of the law. Read to us
1 John 3:4
B: 1 john 3:4“4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” So Jesus will judge our deeds according to the law? But how are we and the gentiles then saved? By keeping the law?
A: No, not by keeping the law; the law shows us when we sin. Like: “Do not steal” or “Do not commit adultery” If we cheat on our wives/husbands, we are breaking the law. And the penalty for sin is death.
B: Yes, you are right; I remember
Rom 6:23
Can I read it?
A: Yes, sure, it will fit in perfectly:
B: “23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
A: Yes, that is it. One fact that we all know is that we will die one day. And the Bible has the only reason for this fact, we have sinned/transgressed the Law of love and the result is death. Now Jesus, never broke the law of love because He is love died without breaking the law. So He has paid the ransom for whoever would like to take the offer. He says: I have paid the price for your sins; if anyone except my present, he/she can have it for free. And He will then Give us eternal life. Even more, He makes us His children and we inherit basically eternal life.
B: So how do the Godless receive this present if they do not know they need to accept it?
A: The answer lies within
Rom. 2:14
“14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:” So the Holy Spirit work on the bushman’s heart to do the right thing. Say two bushman’s hunt a dear and one bushman steals the dead dear to feed his family. God promised He will send His Spirit to work on the Bushman’s conscious to give the dear back and to say sorry. If the Bushman listens to the Holy Spirit, the bushman has chosen good over evil. He has chosen Love above selfishness. Thus he has chosen to follow the law, and thus he has chosen life after death. He has chosen Christ.
B: Wow, so if you choose love, goodness and kindness, you actually have chosen Christ. God is love...
A: Read to us
Ezekiel 36:26
and
Jer 31:33
B:
Ezekiel 36:26
(KJV 1900) 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
B:
Jer 31:33
Jeremiah 31:33
(KJV 1900)
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, saith the Lord,
I will put my law in their inward parts,
And write it in their hearts;
And will be their God,
And they shall be my people.
B: So when God writes His law of love in your heart, you become His people
A: Yes, and you know what, His people, His children, inherit the Kingdom of God. AKA they will go to heaven
B: Praise God, He is a just and merciful God. He really came to save all nations
A: So true, and for a final verse read to us
Zechariah 13:6
B: Zech 13.6 “6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.”
Awesome, so there will be those people who never even knew Christ who will be in heaven. They will ask Jesus why He has scars on His Hands.
A: Yes, for all eternity, after sin is completely gone, no more death and no more tears, the only mark of sin will be the scars on Jesus’ hands and feet. And all who did not know about their salvation will come to Jesus and ask. What is your Name so I can know who saved me and talked to me in my conscious? And why do you have those scars? Then Jesus will tell the story of salvation and end off: “I was wounded in the house of my friends.”
B Truly, the GODLESS can go to Heaven.
