2 Timothy 3:13 KJV 1900
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
towards the latter days deceivers and liers shall become worse and worse.
deception shall run rampant.
we are who we identify as???
the deception that life is greener on the other side..
the story of the girl that had a sex change operations and regretted it..
why didnt someone warn me of this or try and talk me out of this.

Greenwashing

we see deception today in full force and without remorse or a sense of responsibility.
this deception has been labeled today as greenwash or greenwashing.
Definition of Greenwash (or greenwashing):
disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image:
the unjustified and misleading claims from brands that their products are more environmentally friendly than they really are
and or healthier than what they are.
Greenwashing is the process of conveying a false impression or misleading information about how a company’s products are environmentally sound. Greenwashing involves making an unsubstantiated claim to deceive consumers into believing that a company’s products are environmentally friendly or have a greater positive environmental impact than they actually do.
The term originated in the 1960s, when the hotel industry devised one of the most blatant examples of greenwashing. They placed notices in hotel rooms asking guests to reuse their towels to save the environment. The hotels enjoyed the benefit of lower laundry costs.
many things are packaged as being a benefit to us while in reality are a benefit to the company and not necessarily to the consumer.
they claim to be looking out for our best interest but in reality, are just lining their own pockets.

examples of greenwashing

A plastic package containing a new shower curtain is labeled “recyclable.” It is not clear whether the package or the shower curtain is recyclable. In either case, the label is deceptive if any part of the package or its contents, other than minor components, cannot be recycled.
An area rug is labeled “50% more recycled content than before.” In fact, the manufacturer increased the recycled content to 3% from 2%. Although technically true, the message conveys the false impression that the rug contains a significant amount of recycled fiber.
A trash bag is labeled “recyclable.” Trash bags are not ordinarily separated from other trash at the landfill or incinerator, so they are highly unlikely to be used again for any purpose. The claim is deceptive because it asserts an environmental benefit where no meaningful benefit exists.
why is this bad?
Greenwashing is deceitful and unethical because it misleads investors and consumers that are genuinely seeking environmentally friendly companies or products. Often, green products can be sold at a premium, making them more expensive, which can lead consumers to overpay.
100% fruit juice
honey roasted pistachios.
greenwashing may occur when a company attempts to emphasize sustainable aspects of a product to overshadow the company’s involvement in environmentally damaging practices. Performed through the use of environmental imagery, misleading labels, and hiding tradeoffs, greenwashing is a play on the term “whitewashing,” which means using false information to intentionally hide wrongdoing, error, or an unpleasant situation in an attempt to make it seem less bad than it is.
Matthew 23:27 KJV 1900
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
they have an outward appearance that doesn't match the inner person.
this is largely our society today.
we are either being lied to
deceived in some way.
or misled.
we’ve all heard the word false advertisement???
we probably all know someone like this.....that doesn’t directly lie but leads someone to think something other than what the truth is.
Proverbs 24:28 KJV 1900
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; And deceive not with thy lips.
Jeremiah 9:5 KJV 1900
5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, And will not speak the truth: They have taught their tongue to speak lies, And weary themselves to commit iniquity.
the art of deception is not necessarily something that people are good at from the beginning.....they lie rather than take responsibility for their actions.
it is a learned action and a perfected practice.

deceiving and being deceived

we see the oldest example of this is the book of genesis.
Genesis 3:1–6 KJV 1900
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
the devils tactics he used then, are the same as he has always used against mankind.
1 John 2:16 KJV 1900
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
the lust of the eye
the pride of life
the promise of fame and fortune
the notion that man can be like God…to rise above God.
the deceitfulness of riches…rich in money, knowledge, power, control.
we can deceive ourselves by knowledge and wisdom...
we see this in king Solomon
we can become proud and arrogant....forgetting where that wisdom came from.....which is from God
setting ourselves up with pride and self sufficiency
this could very well be why God doesn’t give us everything we ask for...
deception in the bible is portrayed in many different ways....
it means a deliberate misrepresentation of the truth, especially in moral and spiritual matters
Matthew 24:24 KJV 1900
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

ELECT [Heb. bāḥîr; Gk. eklektós]; AV also ELECTION (Rom. 11:7); NEB CHOSEN, CHOSEN ONES, CHOSEN PEOPLE. The basic meaning is that of a people or persons “selected” or “chosen” by divine action

just as Israel was the chosen of God and the elect....we also are the chosen of God, the called out ones.
called according to his purpose.
in the latter days, the deception will be so strong that, if it where possible, even the very elect would be deceived.
we can fight this deception by knowing Gods word and through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
there are several reasons people are deceived or can be deceived by the adversary.
no vision
lack of knowledge
seared conscience
doubt
pride
our own tongue

No Vision

Proverbs 29:18 KJV 1900
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
when we say “vision” we are meaning

no vision—instruction in God’s truth, which was by prophets, through visions

where there is no spiritual leadership or direction from God.
no teaching or truth imparted
no spiritual direction
that's why the bible says that judgement begins in the house of the Lord
and how can they hear without a preacher...
this is where a vision is created and imparted.
we see and hear the teachings of the bible…the vision of God, so to speak…and we apply it to our lives and make Gods vision our vision, his goal our goal.
without truth and spiritual guidance and direction the people will perish or fall prey to sinful ways and their own devices…this points to the importance of going to church where the truth is preached and verifying it by the word of God.
this leads directly into the next deception

Lack of Knowledge

Hosea 4:1 KJV 1900
1 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: For the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, Because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
God had an issue with the people because there was no truth or knowledge of God in the land.
the bible says that in the last days there will be false prophets and teachers…having a form of God but denying the power there of......
Hosea 4:6 KJV 1900
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: Because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: Seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
because the truth was not preached the people perished...
Matthew 15:14 KJV 1900
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
this is the sad truth behind false teachers…they not only are lost themselves, but those that hear them are lost as well........we must know the word of God....know what we are anchored to....

Seared Conscience

1 Timothy 4:1 KJV 1900
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

having their conscience seared—Greek, “having their own conscience,” &c., that is, not only “speaking lies” to others, but also having their own conscience seared. Professing to lead others to holiness, their own conscience is all the while defiled

“seared,” as implying their extreme insensibility; the effect of cauterizing being to deaden sensation

if we listen or learn only false teachings, we eventually become insensitive to the truth
our conscience becomes desensitized to the truth.....we begin to believe a lie...

Doubt

1 Timothy 2:8 KJV 1900
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
that is…praying always to God with a pure heart…not in anger or unbelief but seeking God in both spirit and truth
denying ourselves and following him.
the devil constantly bombards us with doubt which in turn leads to unbelief.
Hebrews 3:12 KJV 1900
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
the bible refers to this state of unbelief as having an evil heart

Pride

Proverbs 16:18 KJV 1900
18 Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall.
our own pride deceives us in that it causes us to be puffed up....
Obadiah 3 KJV 1900
3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, Thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; That saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
our pride keeps us from admitting wrong doing
we have pride in our knowledge even though it may be wrong....we are to proud to admit it.
Job 40:11–12 KJV 1900
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: And behold every one that is proud, and abase him. 12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; And tread down the wicked in their place.
here again, the word compares a proud man with a wicked man....they shall be put in their place.
Isaiah 13:11 KJV 1900
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; And I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Our Own Tongue

James 1:26 KJV 1900
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
if our conversation is not that which becometh a Christian…or a reflection of what is inside then our religion is in vain....
what we do and say means nothing.
the words out of our mouths are simply that…words.
they hold little meaning if their is no outward sign or expression of the inner man.

The most frequently used Heb. root, rāmâ, and its derivatives, imply treachery and betrayal

In the NT this concept is expressed chiefly by the Gr. dolos, “craftiness,” “treachery”

a word closely tied to “iniquity” or “Avon” ....crooked and perverse ways not of God, but of our own design and making.
Ephesians 4:14 KJV 1900
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
the job of the adversary is to:
deceive/lie
confuse
kill/destroy
to bring to nought all things that have to do with or pertain to God.
but God is just the opposite
1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV 1900
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
the devil cometh to kill and destroy and is the author of confusion....this being the tactic of the devil.
if the world (or the devil) can interject the smallest amount of doubt…it can cause a chain reaction that can snowball....
John 8:32 KJV 1900
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
God has given us the power over the enemy and over our flesh through the Holy Spirit
John 14:15–17 KJV 1900
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
the spirit of truth being Christ, that he not only dwelt with them but would soon be in them…the Holy Spirit (the other comforter)
to truly love God is to keep his commandments .
1 John 4:6 KJV 1900
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
we can know the spirit of error by knowing God and his word.....
we can be assured of our salvation and eternal destination by not only hearing the words of God but doing them.....
Matthew 7:22–25 KJV 1900
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
these are those who had a form of Godliness but denied the power thereof.
rather than becoming obedient to the whole gospel and conforming to it....they conformed the gospel to their own lifestyle.
when we are firmly established in Christ and firmly planted upon the rock of truth nothing shall be able to destroy us.
Romans 8:35–39 KJV 1900
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
we must be persuaded and firmly established in the faith.
2 Timothy 4:1–8 KJV 1900
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
we have a race that must be finished....only those that finish or endure to the end…shall be saved.
there is a rapture of the church i believe just around the corner and we can make our calling and election sure.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV 1900
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
