Psalm 42:5 NASB95

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence.

Quick thoughts:

David speaks to himself, “why are you disturbed”

Why are we sometimes disturbed/discouraged when we have a God like the one we do?

Psalm 40:11–12 NASB95

You, O Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me. For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my heart has failed me.

“evils beyond number have surrounded me” - Do we feel like this at times?

“iniquities have overtaken me”

David is under attack but God sustains Him

Psalm 63:6 NASB95

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches,

The search for God should be an insatiable one

It never ends, it’s never satisfied.
