Intro

LGBTQ is a major thing in culture today. I would almost guarantee that every single one of you knows someone that identifies some where in the Spectrum.
You might have even heard some people claim that the Bible is okay with it.
Lets just clear up that rumor right now
Leviticus 18:22–24 ESV
22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. 23 And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion. 24 “Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean,
1 Corinthians 6:9–10 ESV
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Timothy 1:8–11 ESV
8 Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, 11 in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
Romans 1:26–28 ESV
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Here is just four simple verses that clearly point out that Homosexuality is wrong
There is plenty more examples in the Bible that point that out, this is just an example
Genesis 1:26–27 ESV
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Psalm 139:13–16 ESV
13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Here is two simple verses that point out that Transgender is wrong.
There is plenty more that would
It comes very simply with this though
Homosexuality is wrong because it goes against the very nature of how God created sex. God created sex to be a beautiful gift from Him, yet when we go about it in a way that goes against God - one man, one woman in marriage we are distorting it for ourselves
Transgender is similarly wrong because we are taking God’s creation - us - and saying that God made a mistake. Or that God was wrong about what we are meant to be, and of course God can’t be wrong. If he could be He is no longer God!
I want to make two quick points here about LGBT - both trans and homosexual
This sin isn’t any different than any other sin - they are not worse. It is sin, to God it is the same as a lie that we tell, the premarital sex we have, or murder that I hope non of you have committed.
Same Sex Attraction and practicing Homosexuality are two different things. I believe that every person is tempted with something more than anything else. For some they might be tempted with drugs and alcohol, for some it may be porn. For others it may be same sex attraction. While you can be tempted with that, the sinful part comes when you actually act on it.
I know a guy that I went to Piedmont with
He was SSA - yet he followed God, prayed hard, studied his Bible and went on to work for a church doing ministry
Being SSA isn’t anymore sinful than dealing with any other sin, it’s all about fighting it.
So the question is no longer what does the Bible say about LGBT, because it has a very firm stance on it.
The question really becomes, how do we reach the LGBT community?

Show Love

Jesus calls us to SHOW LOVE
Mark 2:15–17 ESV
15 And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:10 ESV
10 And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples.
We constantly see Jesus eating with tax collectors and sinners.
He constantly spent His time with sinful people - breaking bread and serving them
We consequently need to show love
The key thing to note though is that showing love, does not mean the same as agreeing/accepting
You can show love to someone without agreeing with the lifestyle that they are doing
You can care about the person, and still disagree with them
Jesus when he talked to the woman at the well in John 4 showed love to her, but yet he told her to go and sin no more
He didn’t affirm the lifestyle she was living (living with a man unmarried after being divorced multiple times), instead He cared for her and then called her to go and sin no more
You can show love to people that are sinful, while still disagreeing with them

Share the Gospel

Jesus calls us to SHARE THE GOSPEL
Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Acts 1:8 ESV
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We are told to go and share the Gospel
We have the answer to everything they are looking for.
Every sinful problem in their life, Jesus answers it
Before you try to fix a problem in someone’s life, some sinful thing - share the Gospel
They need the Gospel way before they need their life “fixed”
The Gospel is the only thing that can fix it
What is the Gospel?
We were created by God in perfection
Because of Adam and Eve sinning, sin entered the world
Sin is anything that goes against God, sin separates us from God
That’s why God sent Jesus - who is fully God and fully man
Jesus lived a perfect life, not sinning at all, to then die a death He didn’t deserve
The death He died was suppose to be our death
But He did this to save us, by raising again on the third day
Calling us to now repent and come to Him
The Gospel is what every person needs, and every person is searching for
No matter the sin that someone is struggling with , the Gospel is the cure, because it is the only thing that can change lives, and save souls
Nothing else can
We must share the Gospel after showing love
By doing it in this order, people will actually listen to what we have to say

Don’t give up

Jesus tells us to NOT GIVE UP
Luke 10:10–11 ESV
10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’
Jesus in Luke 10 is sending out disciples to go and share the Gospel
There is so many amazing things you can takeaway from Luke 10, but the most important thing you can learn is what He tells us in vs. 10-11
Don’t give up!
He tells them that even if they are rejected “Nevertheless know this, the kingdom of God has come near”
Even when you are rejected, despised, and hated continue with the same passion, nevertheless know the kingdom of God has come near
Nevertheless know that Jesus loves you and is waiting to save you!
This does not mean that it isn’t easy, Jesus warns of persecution
Matthew 10:24–25 ESV
24 “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
The people in Bible times looked at Jesus and called Him a demon, so of course we may expect rejection and persecution
That doesn’t mean we can give up or give in
Because look at what Jesus tells them earlier
Matthew 10:19–20 ESV
19 When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. 20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
When you are sharing the Gospel, following what Jesus is calling you to do, He said that He will give you the words to speak, He will work things out through and for you!

Conclusion

The Bible is very clear on it’s stance with the LGBTQAI++ community
It is sinful, and against God, you can’t justify it any other way, you can’t wiggle your way into making it right
All through the Bible is is clearly laid out as a sin
So how do we help?
SHOW LOVE
Show love to the people.
They are still after all made in the image of God
Though they are in sin, they are still loved by God and we must show love
Remembering that love does not mean accepting or affirming sin
SHARE THE GOSPEL
We know that it is sinful
The Bible is abundantly clear about that
So we must share the Gospel, the only thing that can save
DON’T GIVE UP
It’s not going to be easy
Jesus even warns us that
So we must not give up
At the end of the day, it’s wrong. Because of that we must share the Gospel, reach out to them, show them love. Be Jesus
