Introduction
Today we continue our series on the Revelation of the True God in Exodus.
Over the last two weeks, we looked at the plight of God’s people in Egypt after Joseph and his whole generation died.
Pharaoh oppressed God’s people by trying to control the Israelites’ population by destroying their male children.
But because of the fear of God that the midwives had, Pharaoh’s plan was partially thwarted so he ratcheted up his evil plan and ordered his people, the Egyptians, to begin throwing the Israelite baby boys into the nile.
One little baby boy was hidden and survived by being discovered by Pharaoh’s daughter as he floated on the river in the basket his mother made him.
Pharaoh’s daughter rescued him and named the boy Moses.
Having grown up in Pharaoh’s daughters’ house, Moses grew older.
Moses saw the oppression of his people and one day slew an Egyptian who was beating a Hebrew–one of his people.
Fleeing Egypt, Moses came to the land of Midian where he met Reuel, the priest of Midian.
Moses married one of his daughters, Zipporah, had a son named Gershom and dwelled there in Midian.
Pharaoh died, but God’s people remained in slavery and their cries for rescue came up to God.
Today we find out what God intended to do about His people.
