Hezekiah comes and revives the kingdom from the wickedness of Ahaz
All of Israel and Judah had gone after idols
They had forsaken their God and turned to wickedness
Romans 3:9-20 all have sinned

The Holy King (29)

He did what was right in the sight of God (2)
He opened the doors of the House of God (3)
Ahaz closed off the way to God and opened up the way to Idolatry, just as Akash taught last week
He prepared the levites for the duty of the temple (4)
They had to sanctify themselves and sanctify the temple
Carry out all the filth from it sitting empty for so many years
They repented of all the ways of their fathers (6-11)
Seek forgiveness from God (30:22)
Do not be negligent (11)
Worship is restored to Jerusalem (30)
True Joy is serving God once again
They did not waste time but went immedietly to work for God (36)

The Missional King

Hezekiah looked out to the nations and was filled with a desire to share the love of God with them
As they were trying to please God in their ways they saw opportunity to bring others into worship with God
The King sent out postmen throughout all the land
They went with a letter from the King
They were simply representatives of the King telling the nations that the King of Judah wants them back in Jerusalem
message (30:6-9)
Many rejected the call of the king and his messengers
They laughed them to scorn and mocked
But some turned and responded to the message
God gave them an united heart to serve God (12)
The nations were brought to God in worship
30:23-27 noone wanted to leave this wonderful experience of worship
The prayers reached the true dwelling place of God as they gathered at this model temple of God’s holy temple in heaven

The Victorious King

Hezekiah had victory over the idolatry of Israel and Judah (chapter 31)
They utterly destroyed all the idols throughout the land
portion was given to offer sacrifices continually to the one true God
31:20-21
They saw what was good and right before the Lord
They worshipped with all their heart
not worried about what others thought or did
They simply sought the Lord and he prospered them
Hezekiah had victory over the enemies that were threatening the people of God
32:8 The Lord our God will be with us and help us
The people rested upon the words of Hezekiah
32:24-33 Humbled himself before the Lord when he was lifted up in pride and God blessed him
However, When God tested Hezekiah, he failed to be all that Israel needed him to be. Instead he welcomed the enemy into Israel to see all the treasures
But Jesus is greater than Hezekiah
He is the great missional King that loved the nations even to the cross
He then sent out his church to bring in the nations to worship the one true God
Jesus will one day be victorious over every idol and every false god, every enemy and even satan
He was tried by God and was found true
He is worthy to sit on the throne
So we go into the world proclaiming his goodness and greatness
