Isaiah 6:1-9, Isaiah Had a Vision.

[Isaiah 6:1-9: In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

Then said I, Here am I; send me.

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not].

Disobedience is a severe thing.

Uzziah got his eyes on the king and off the real King.

Uzziah was a leper unto the day of his death.

[2 Chronicles 26:21: And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land].

Isaiah 6: Six woes:

1) 6:8: Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

2) 6:11: Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

3) 6:18: Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

4) 6:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

5) 6:21: Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

6) 6:22: Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

Sin was embedded in the hearts of the people.

Things that happened to Isaiah:

Isaiah’s vision, v. 1. Isaiah saw God’s personality.

LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up: We see God’s position--high and lifted up.

What Isaiah saw was the pre-incarnate Christ.

[Revelation 4:2-3: And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald].

Isaiah saw God’s personality.

Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: supreme completeness of the holiness of God.

[I Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God].

Isaiah saw God’s presence, v. 4. [Matthew 28:20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

Amen.

Hebrews 13:5: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee].

Isaiah 6:5-7: When God shows up, you will see your sin.

Isaiah had no legitimate excuse for himself.

Woe is me! [humble confession before God].

Isaiah 6:6-7: Isaiah sensed his own cleansing--sin purged.

[I John 1:7-9: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness].

Isaiah 6:8: for us?

[speaks of the Trinity].

When God shows up, we are never the same.
