MBF Vision Statement KNOWLEDGE

After some time and through church changes it would seem we need to update and if possible change the mission and vision statement please hear me this is not toe change for change sack

Most of you know I am not so much in to change

Our leadership has been praying and talking about this for sometime

This is what we came up with

“To Make Jesus KNOWN to People”

As ministry leaders begin to set goals and to set 1, 5 and possibly even 10 yr plans we as a church leadership and we as a church body can and will use this as guidance

Have you ever been bowling and you use the bumpers?

Remember the bumpers when I bowled used to be big inflated tubs to keep your ball out of the gutter

That is what a Mission Statement does

Keeps us out of the gutter

This Mission Statement gives us guidance as we begin to set goals and make decisions

Our Mission Statement is to make Jesus KNOWN To People

To fulfill preparing people and equipping people to share the Gospel is also done through making disciples

KNOWN is an Acronym for something

KNOWLEDGE

NEW CREATION

OBEY

WITNESS

NECESSARY

This morning we will look at KNOWLEDGE

KNOWLEDGE - to have an understanding and knowledge of who Jesus is, what He did and how that affects me personally.

To have a knowledge of Jesus is more than a head knowledge

Proverbs 2:10 NASB95

10 For wisdom will enter your heart And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

Right you and I can know the Bible Stories and the History of the nation of Israel

But this is deeper than that

Right there is a difference between Knowing someone and KNOWING someone

This is the latter

So what does it mean to KNOW God

to have knowledge about who Jesus is

Is to know Him personally

To know Him intimately

For you to accomplish that you must first repent and then run to Jesus

Turn from your sinful ways and then run to Jesus that is how you come to KNOW Jesus intimately

And for you to do that you must first understand what He did for you

These are all more than just a head knowledge of who Jesus is and What he Did

Yes it starts with a knowledge of the Bible Stories but then it seeps down into your heart

Church this is why we talk so much about sin and the fact that you and I are sinners because if you don’t know that then you don’t know you need to turn from sin because according to you you are not a sinner

After you learn those Bible Stories and have studied them, then you realize that you are missing something and then you know you need to turn from your sin

Or repent from your sin and then you come into a full knowledge of who Jesus is and what He did

So what did He do for you?

Romans 5:8 NASB95

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

That Jesus Christ died for you while you were still in the midst of sin

That Jesus loved you and I enough to take your punishment from sin and bear it so that you could be made right

Let that sit for a moment

God loved you enough to take your punishment from sin

How backwards is that from the world right now

In the world right now it is everyman for himself, like when something goes wrong the world is already looking for how you can not get into trouble

Heres the thing, you are guilty of sin

Wether you think what you have done is sin or not it is

The Bible tells us that everyone has sinned

But

But Jesus love you and I enough to take our punishment of sin on Himself

That is some amazing wonderful love

Then Paul says this about being made right with God

Romans 3:21–24 NASB95

21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;

We are now Justified before God because of what Jesus did

It is knowing that, that allows us to live in the freedom of Christ

Because of Christ we are justified

We are made right with God through our faith in Jesus Christ

Our faith is in Jesus Christ because of what He did on the cross and the grave

Don’t you think that is an important thing to know when we start to talk about having an understanding of who Jesus is and what Jesus did for us

That knowledge is so very important to you coming to a personal relationship with Christ

So very important to growing in Christ

And so very important to ultimately sharing that with other people who don’t know Christ.

KNOWLEDGE of Christ is more than head knowledge

Proverbs 18:15 NASB95

15 The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

a prudent person is someone who acts with care and thought for the future

A prudent person is someone who is looking towards to future looking towards growth

Their mind is searching and that is a good thing

This is the knowledge we are talking about when we are talking about KNOWING God

That you as a believer are seeking wisdom

Please listen to me it is not seeking wisdom just to seek wisdom

Or not just listening to just any old preacher

Church it is filtering everything you hear through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit

And believer me if what you are hearing doesn’t match up with Scripture run the other way

Because there are preachers out there that will use everything under the sun

They may not even use scripture to preach from and guess what it probably isn’t a sermon then but a speech

Church that is why is must be more than head knowledge

That is why it is so important to continue to grow as you walk with Jesus

Church that is why knowledge is so important as we seek

“To make Jesus KNOWN to people”

We can’t share what we don’t know!

CLOSEING

As the band comes up

Maybe you are here this morning and you do not know Christ

Maybe you have been in church and you thought you have known Christ but this morning only realized that you have just had a head knowledge of Jesus and you want more

I would invite you to the front this morning

You can meet with someone and they will be able to show you through scripture how you can repent from your sin this morning and walk out of the church this morning truly KNOWING Jesus

Or maybe you are here this morning and you do have a personal relationship with Jesus but Jesus is calling you deeper into the garden

Or maybe there is some other decision you need to make

Would you come to the altar this morning and do business with God
