God has a different way of viewing our life

God has a way of mapping our life that is different than us

It’s not up to us to determine how God will use us

Could it be that God wants to take a king and make him a humble servant

We must be careful about judging people based on our biases

We accept people base on our own personal value system

Beauty is the gold metal of human worth

Silver is intelligence

We exalt people that are beautiful and intelligent

next would be physical skills and talent

God made you just like He wants you to be

You are vitally important

Please do not Judge based on physical appearance

The First King of Israel

Taking his life in his own leadership

Walk as dear children, like God wants you to walk

1Co 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Castaway = not able to be used

Restored for service

So stubborn and self willed that God cannot use them

Samuel wasn’t moving on

God moved on

God has the authority to move you from one area of service to another.

1Sa 16:2 And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me.

And the LORD said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.

1Sa 16:3 And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.

1Sa 16:4 And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem.

And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?

1Sa 16:5 And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.

And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

The firstborn are usually more self confident

Naturally it just makes sense - appearance, confidence, stature

The heart made the difference

No divine order to anoint

David = overlooked, not the favorite

I don’t need to have David or

Humble

15 years old David was anointed to be king

The oil of anointing

The oldest was the one expected to get the blessing and authority

The little one

The ruddy one

Can you imagine that the older brothers would’ve been a little hurt

15 years old anointed king but back to watching the sheep

Pain, Rejection, loneliness was a life David was entering into as an anointed one

“Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.

This was a positional anointing for a work - in this case it was the work of a king

Long before David was anointed to be king, God told Saul through the prophet:

1Sa 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

God is in the process of replacing you

Those that lead must understand the importance of obeying the Lord.

Disobedience will lead to the Lord replacing you in your given area of authority.

“A shepherd anointed to be King”

An anointing does not mean that God wants you to take that position now!

but lacking God’s presence there will be no power and no authority

The emphasis is the development of our inner man

When God measures you for leadership, He measures your heart

Allow God to use you by allowing your heart to be developed
