ME
WE
Loving our neighbors is a display of God’s love for all of us.
GOD
YOU
You can’t model God’s character without having a heart of love.
The very nature of God is love.
The opposite of love is hate.
If you don’t have a heart of love, then the reality is that there is hatred in your heart.
Love softens the heart.
Hate hardens it.
Love brings joy to the heart.
Hate brings anger and bitterness.
The primary gauge for the condition of your heart is how you treat others.
You can say you love people, but if you are impatient, judgmental, prideful, angry, and annoyed with others, then there is probably some hate in your heart that you need to deal with.
Your relationship with God is probably also suffering, because love comes from God.
What is your general attitude towards people?
Not just people that you get along with, but the people that are difficult to be around?
True love of God and others is more than just emotional feeling.
When your going through a dry spell, it is easy to think that God doesn’t care.
He doesn’t love me.
My friends and neighbors don’t love me.
We are emotional beings and sometimes it is hard to separate our emotions from reality.
We must learn not to operate, make decisions, or rush to judgement when our emotions are high.
Emotions are temporary.
They come and go given enough time.
Never make permanent decisions on temporary feelings.
Our enemy will try to get us to give into our feelings.
Dry spells are temporary.
The rain will come.
The thirsty will be quenched.
Don’t buy into the lie.
To understand how we should love our neighbor, we must look at how much we love ourselves.
When we’re hungry, we eat; when we’re dirty, we bathe; when we’re cold, we clothe ourselves.
We don’t deprive ourselves of any of these necessities, generally speaking, because we are caring for our bodies and minds.
Take a look at this video that shows a great example of how to love our neighbors.
Do you love your neighbor enough to leave your wedding?
