Do you ever look at the sky and feel small?
Stand in a big yard, or a field some evening and look up, up, up. From one horizon, all the way over to the other is BIG.
Or some cold, clear winter night look at the stars: Orion with his belt and bow, or the Big Dipper, or the pathway of stars making the Milky Way. There’s a lot of stars up there: 5 000 visible to the naked eye in the low estimates; some say it’s possible to see 10 000 stars.
It takes the light of the nearest stars in the Centauri Galexy 4 y 3 m for the light to arrive. It takes nearly 6 years for the light from the next nearest star to arrive. Even the moon is so far away it takes 8 minutes for the light to travel.
