How did creation occur and why does it matter?
Ex nihilo
God did not form the universe like play-doh, but spoke and everything was made.
Gen 1:1-5
In this we see that God spoke and made our world.
If we pick up on anything, it is that God is the origin of the universe and His creation was “good.”
Why does this matter?
The world we live in tries to explain the universe apart from God.
The issue is is that a world with no God is not possible.
We have to have a creator, we have to have an origin.
God did not just create and let the world go however, He is consistently holding it together and driving it forward.
Psalm 104:1-15
This chapter helps illustrate that Go ‘ d did not just set the machine and let it go, but that by His providence He is continuing to guide the universe, give it life, and use it to fulfill His purposes.
So when we speak of creation, we are talking about something that God has not only made but is continuing to guide and use to fulfill His will.
All creation points to there being a God, the question is now, why do we as people so quickly turn a blind eye to it, and try to explain it apart from Him?
Small Group:
Why do you think God made everything?
Why do you think people try to explain the universe without God?
