Intro

Luke 14:28–31 ESV
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
We live in an impulsive age, and the enemy is taking advantage of it. Here is the reality. Just because I feel a certain way, doesn’t mean I am right. What Happens is that in our excitement we rush out to do something, but then realize that we have over committed, overstepped or wound others because we over-spoke.
Learning to Prepare and Plan is critical for the believer. If we truly want to grow we must be intentional about it. Amen.

Building On the Rock takes time..

Now hear me. i am not saying that you do not come to salvation instantly. You do. The moment you profess faith in Jesus you are in. But in order to truly be strong in the faith, one must construct a life on the Rock. It’s a lot quicker just hype emotions, feel like you are on the rock but still be standing on sand.
If you use an inferior foundation in time you home, your life will begin to crack.

Building On the Rock Matters

Drew Testing Concrete for Architects
Satan Masquerades as an Angel of light. Just like some concrete masquerades as real concrete
He does his best to resemble godliness, so that he can better deceive the church and new believers.

Building On the Rock?

I believe in Jesus. Great! I’m glad. What do you believe in? In Jesus?
You believe He is the Son of God. So? That belief alone will not transform you.
Satan believes that. Look at him. He is evil. Every demon believes that. Believing isn't enough. Your believing must give everything to Christ. It must end in Action.
James 2:18–19 ESV
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
moment of Theology.
In Christianity we do not believe you are made righteous by your work, but rather your righteousness, in Jesus, should naturally produce works. In short. If it doesn’t somethings broke. Check your spiritual foundation.
Believing in Jesus is good, Believing in what Jesus believes is better
If you want to Live the Abundant Life you must inspect your Spiritual foundations
So I ask, Is you your foundation on the Entire Word of god? or just part of it? This but not that? I like part about love, but not divorce. Morality but not homosexuality. Joy, but not fear. Courage, but not cowardice.
A foundation that is not built solely and completely on the entire word, will inevitably crack.

Building on the Rock to Thrive

What we have is a generation of believers who have been sold faulty cement. Faulty Christianity. Now their foundations are crumbling. They cannot hold up to the test of time.
Luke 6:46–49 ESV
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
How do you build on the Rock?
By Hearing and Doing… Not just hearing and not just doing. But with both. We must make sure they are connected. Because again:
Proper hearing, Proper understanding, leads to Doing.
What we have ended up with in Christianity in America is a lot of Christians who don’t know what it means to be Christian. The want to go to heaven, they want a relationship with God, but they don’t know what that means. They haven’t necessarily counted the costs of following Jesus. They said that sounds nice, lets do it. and went for it.
But then they get in and nothing is working, because they were sold a rock foundation, but given sand.
Now here is the reality: We are start with sand. Look at cement. Its wet and malleable when its new. It takes time to harden. In the same way, it takes time for our spiritual foundations to develop.
You don’t develop an on fire prayer life over night. It takes time, persistence and digging in the word.
You don’t chose to follow Jesus and get downloaded all of this Godly wisdom. It takes time to develop. Time to mature.
We are going to reach this community for Jesus. In order to do this we must sure up our foundations and set our eyes on things above.

Closing:

Do you feel as though you were promised the rock but given sand? Many believers feel that way. They may never admit it. but quietly they wonder. If that is you, you were not sold a lie. Jesus really is who He professes to be. I want to encourage you. Run with us over the next several weeks. we are going to dive into Theology. A taboo word in Church. I think we sell people short in American Christianity. We are going to explore Who our God is. In that. Who We are. Why we are and What We are here to do.
It’s time to sure up the Theological foundations. WE are going to have fun.
