Story: Reeling in the big one… the log that got away.
Summer is coming… are you ready for It?
We have all reached the end of one season but, we may have come into that season with expectation but the truth is, we aren’t called to serve or follow our ambition, we are called to serve and follow our God. In our story today we get to hear of two sisters that both have ambition but only one of them is chasing the best ambition.
Scripture:
Primary
Luke 10:38-42
As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Secondary
Matthew 11:28-30
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Psalms 16:5
Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
