English Lesson

Does anyone know what an adjective is?
Adjectives are words that describe the qualities or states of being of nouns, i.e. enormous, doglike, silly, yellow, fun, fast.
Does anyone know what a verb is?
Verbs are words that show action (sing), an occurrence (develop) or state of being (exist). Almost every sentence requires a verb. The most basic form of verb is known as its infinitive. The forms call, love, break, and go are all infinitives.
Almost all verbs have two other important forms called participles. Participles are forms that are used to create several verb tenses (forms that are used to show when an action happened); they can also be used as adjectives. The present participle usually ends in -ing: calling, loving, breaking, going. The past participle usually ends in -ed, but many past participles have irregular endings: called, loved, broken, gone.
I can keep going, however, I am supposed to be preaching a sermon not giving an English lesson.
The last thing about verbs I want to point out are irregular verbs.
Irregular verbs don’t follow patterns when changing tenses. They don’t follow the same rules for conjugation.
All that being said, the verb I am focusing on today is the verb “be”.
This word is one of the most the most irregular verbs in the English language.

“Be”

Be holy for I am Holy, this phrase can be found nine times in the Bible.
Leviticus 11:44 “‘For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth.”
Leviticus 11:45 “‘For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be holy, for I am holy.’ ””
Leviticus 19:2 ““Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”
Leviticus 20:7 “‘You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.”
Leviticus 20:26 “‘Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine.”
Leviticus 21: 8 “‘You shall consecrate him, therefore, for he offers the food of your God; he shall be holy to you; for I the Lord, who sanctifies you, am holy.”
Deuteronomy 23:14 ““Since the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to defeat your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy; and He must not see anything indecent among you or He will turn away from you.”
1 Peter 1:15 “but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;”
1 Peter 1:16 “because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.””
In these nine passages the Lord is commanding us to do something. He is telling us we need to take action.
According to Merriam Webster, action is, 1. the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim or goal. 2. a thing done.
When we examine the Bible it gives us commands, or things we need to do to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. It details the road we need to take to bring us to the foot of the cross, and then continually walk in the ways of righteousness. Romans 1:16-17 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.””
