Each one is important and plays a major role.
For years we have focused on a ministry but not the ministry!
The Harvest Project
Matthew 9:35 ESV
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.
“Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues”
*Jesus went -
Cities / Villages / Synagogues
1)There is work to do in our city
2)Village is going to represent our community/neighborhoods
3)Synagogues is going to represent our church
Jesus came to do the work of the father:
Teaching - to teach v. — to impart skills or knowledge to.
Proclaiming - to announce (herald) v. — to make known (important news) publicly and loudly (as if a herald).
The gospel of the kingdom is the good-news message of repentance, redemption, and restoration offered by God to all who will receive Christ. Those who accept this offer become part of His eternal kingdom (John 1:12).
John 1:12 ESV
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
Healing every disease and every affliction
Matthew 9:36 ESV
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
When we go… We will see
Compassion: to be deeply moved
“He had compassion for them
Harassed: to be afflicted v. — to be grievously affected.
Helpless: to be rejected ⇔ be cast off v. — to be rejected, conceived of as being thrown away.
“Sheep without a shepherd”
Matthew 9:37–38 ESV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
“The harvest is plentiful”
What is a harvest?
Harvest: yield
Who is the harvest?
“Laborers are few”
Who are the laborers?
Laborers are clean vessels
2 Timothy 2:21 ESV
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
Laborers are ministers
2 Corinthians 3:6–8 ESV
who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?
2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Freedom: liberty n. — personal freedom from servitude, confinement, or oppression.
The ministry
2 Corinthians 5:17–18 ESV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
2 Corinthians 5:19–20 ESV
that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
How is a person saved?
Ephesians 2:8 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Romans 10:17 ESV
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
The harvest is ready!
The seed to believe has been planted in everyone.
We yield the harvest by activating the seed by the message of reconciliation.
