Philippians 1:27-30 Text and Summary
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. 29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; 30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
Summary:
Regardless of what happens to me (Paul) only live your life in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Jesus. That way you stand firm and united in mind and spirit fighting together in order that many others will trust in the Gospel. Therefore do not be afraid of your opponents there in Philippi (Roman Citizens) your unity and courage will show them what they are up against, destruction for them and salvation for you by God. Just as Salvation is the gift from God so is suffering for Christ's sake as you have seen in me while there at Philippi and now hear of me in Rome, you are now experiencing the same struggle.
***Emphasis Mine*** Even if you hear of my death keep living your life worthy of the Gospel fighting the good fight of faith in unity and remember suffering for the sake of Christ is gift from God just salvation is, we are in the struggle together and you are now experiencing what I have been experiencing for years. Stand united and continue sharing the Gospel.
