Title: Provisions for His people

Text: Mark 6:30-56

When you are hungry He gives His Provision vs. 35-44

The ministry of the disciples

Day was spent 6pm

They had nothing to eat

Exceedingly great crowd – Leading villages like Capernaum had Pop 1,000 to 3,000

Give Ye them to eat

200 days wages wouldn’t buy it

No villages or market place large enough to fill the order

The miracle of Jesus

Commanded to sit

Took them… looked up to heaven and blessed

Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. John 11:42

Brake and gave

All ate to their fill

12 baskets took up

The feeding miracle was important to the early church they knew if Jesus could feed multitudes to their fill and still have leftovers He would provide for them.

Ill: Weds. Dream about Mike Harris… 1 year anniversary of my job being terminated. How God has provided for us.

App: Disciples of the Lord Jesus should never doubt His power to supply their needs. If He can feed five thousand men with five loaves and two fish, He can provide for His trusting servants under any circumstances. They can labor for Him without worry as to where their food is coming from. If they seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, every need will be supplied.

Seek first – We are missing out on an abundance of blessings because we constantly ask Jesus to bless us where we are and in what we are doing but we seldom seek Him in what He is doing.

Seek Jesus and be a part of what He is doing in this world and you will have no needs go unmet.

When you are helpless He gives His presence vs. 45-52

The difficulties of obedience

Wind causes waves

Blown several miles south they landed in Gennesaret

The delights of obedience

3 am

Saw Him walking on the sea

Cried Out (shriek out of terror)

“have courage, it is I, Don’t be afraid!

Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, And treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Job 9:8.

Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? Or hast thou walked in the search of the depth. Job 38:16.

JESUS GOT IN THE BOAT

Wind ceased

Amazed astounded

Ill: Cape fear river… Shear pin broke…. Battery dead in trolling motor. Swam up river

Saw the landing and I was elated …. Purely delightfull!

They found something better than the shore… better than the wind being ceased they found the savior with them.

Difficulties – 2nd time this has happened – in the center of God’s will doing exactly as Jesus ordered and they find difficulty hard ship STORM now STORM

Vs. 52 Ends with

Even after seeing the power of Jesus in the miracles of the loaves they still didn’t realize that nothing was impossible for Him.

They shouldn’t have been surprised to see Him walking on the water.

They were delighted when He got in the boat with them.

App: If you obey Jesus you will not be kept from difficulty – you may experience greater difficulty but you have the assurance that Jesus the creator of the universe is with you.

What are you going through?

Does your situation seem helpless?

If you are a follower of Jesus then you have the blessed assurance that Jesus is with you always, No matter the circumstance…. It may seem bleak and hopeless but what you have with you is far better than being kept from the difficult circumstance, you have the Savior whose word says He will never leave you nor forsake you!

Trust Him He is trustworthy

If nothing…. Wait ….. you will!

When you are hurting He gives His power vs. 53-56

Hurting people

People were running through the region, getting the ones they cared for…. Sick… dying…

And bringing them to Jesus

Mark 2:1-12

Laying in the streets

“Besought” – Called for Him

Come closer Jesus that I might touch your garments

Mark: 5:25-34

Healing power

Everyone who touched Him was made whole!

Faith!

Touch the garments was all it took

Just a little touch….. I want all of Him…. Jump into His arms feel His arms around me.

They were healed…. Physically and Spiritually made whole!

EVRYONE WHO HAS FAITH IN JESUS WILL EXPERIENCE HIS POWER AND WILL BE HEALED

App: You may be hurting, miserable with grief

Looking for something…..

Augustine of Hippo said everyman has a God sized hole in Him…. and you are here today needing to be made Whole

The remedy…… Jesus!

Conclusion: Jesus loves His creation and especially those crafted in the image of God.

He provides for His Children physically and spiritually!

Trust in Jesus, chasing after Him and He will provide for your needs!

He will feed you when you are hungry!

Be with you when you feel helpless!

His power will be upon you when you are hurting!
