And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days. 35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him Ge 37:34–35.
When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with cashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry; 2 And came even before the king’s gate: for none might enter into the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth. 3 And in every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and cashes. 4 So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not Es 4:1–4.

the Exodus……Law……Mana…. God’s oath to fulfill His promise to Abraham….. rebellion…. Yet, God is still gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding instead fast love AND CONTINUED TO GUIDETHEM. (vv. 9–14);
the nation’s wilderness experiences (vv. 15–23)
the conquering of the land (vv. 24–25);
the period of Judges (vv. 26–29); CYCLES Oppressors/Deliverer
the period of prophets up to the captivity (vv. 30–31). (because of continual sin)
The word of God brought to admission of their great distress Vs. 32-37
