Does Truth Matter?
I. Truth is being denied today. (Isa. 59:14-15; 5:20).
----Relativism = truth is relative; no such thing as absolute truth or standards.
----Relativism leads to chaos.
II. Truth is real. (John 8:32).
- A. It can be observed all around us.
- B. It is honored in the Bible. (III John 3-4).
III. Truth has an opposite: falsehood. (Gen. 3:1; John 8:43-47; II Cor. 11:13-15; Matt. 7:15; Mk. 13:22; II Pet. 2:1; I John 4:1; I & II Tim; Titus).
IV. Truth is freeing. ( John 8:31-32).
- A. It frees us from sin. (I Pet. 1:22).
- B. It frees us from despair.
V. Truth must be shared.
IV. Truth must be responded to.
- A. Rejection leads to death. (Rom. 1:18-25; 26-32; II Thess. 2:9-12).
- B. Acceptance leads to life. (John 8:32; Rom. 1:16; Col. 1:3-6; I Tim. 2:4).
