Sermon Tone Analysis

Background and context /// The people has been led by moses… out of Egypt… Into the wilderness.... and now the moment has come - this is the rocket launch moment for Joshua - But the reality is up until this point here has been in the family of God and been under the care and leadership of Moses for a long time:

GOD HAS PEOPLE FOR YOU.

For Timothy - God supplied Paul the Apostle.

For Samuel - God provided Eli the Priest.

For Joshua - God supplied MOSES the great deliverer.

For you - God has supplied your family, your spiritual family to care for you, to prepare you and to launch you into the God given calling HE has for you.

GOD HAS A FAMILY HERE FOR YOU - Your leaders & your friends.

(Prophetic: I believe and i get the sense that there are a vast many JOSHUA’s being raised up here at Colonial.

To be an instrument of Gods peace anbd grace ans favor for the future in JESUS name).

WHOS READY FOR SOME JOSHUA LIKE FAITH!

Here is some things that WE CAN LEARN FROM JOSHUA - that can also happen for you

1.The More time you spend in His presence the more COURAGE you will have for your battles

(you will have more boldness, more confidence, more grace)

He learnt these things from MOSES: Joshua would’ve spent every day of his young life in the presence of God.

In the Tent of meeting which was where Gods presence was. he would’ve been intimately familiar with the the way things worked, the law and how to administer sacrifices and he would’ve become PART OF THE FAMILY BUSINESS.

You have a FAMILY Business too

Its the church, the local church - its Colonial Church.

You are part of the family and there is a purpose for your time here

to learn the family business - which is our spiritual growth and to possess the spiritual territory assigned by God for all of us.

Its so you know how to fight battles.

the truth is.

just like Joshua, you will have to fight many battles in your life.

You will have things to overcome.

The more time you spend at CHurch and at YH the more courage you will have to fight the battles ahead.

2.The More time you spend in His presence the more DIRECTION you will have your life

HE LEARNED FROM ISRAEL’s MISTAKES AND DISOBEDIENCE.....(remember Joshua was one of the 12 spies… He was one of the TWO that came back with a FAITH RESPORT!!!

Joshua had leadership all over him.

but it was time in Gods presence did he develop the ability to FOLLOW God. he understood the process of HEARINg from GOD and OBEYING HIS VOICE.

Tip: Before you do anything MAJOR in life, you need to GET WITH GOD and FIND OUT WHERE HE SAYS YOU SHOULD GO.

all DIRECTION comes from the ALTAR… from the PRESENCE

When you need to take big steps in life.

you need to spend time in the presence.

Worshipping, Praying and reading the word.

Hearing the word Preached.

Joshua knew how to comes into the presence

Joshua had been shown by moses how to figure out what God was saying

Joshua knew the direction the PEOPLE of Israel should go - Because He got in the presence.

Joshua knew how to PRAY

Joshua knew how to be.

3.The More time you spend in His presence the more FAMILY you will alongside you.

He learned from Moses that People come from God - God has people here at church for you that will help you go to the next level.

but they will also be friends and family around the table to do life.

with.

(my Story: i was 19 when i first came to church and gave my heart to Jesus.

I was completely changed from the inside out but it was the spiritual family of hillsong church that God placed me into, i was welcomed, i was taught, i was encouraged, i was blessed).

You have a YH leader assigned to you here - You have someone HERE that loves and cares about you and will LIFT you up in your life and SPUR you on

you have people that will show you how to pray

You have people that will teach you the ways of God.

You have a leader, Allie Crum, who has spent countless hours in church and in His presence and she is STRATEGICALLY positioned IN YOUR LIFE to come along side you and change you and bless you and help you and grow you into the FEARLESS Leader just like Joshua was!

4.The More time you spend in his presence the more OTHERS will be blessed by you.

Here is the really cool thing about Joshua+

God would go on to use him to lead his people into the promised land.

God will use you, to lead other people into their own promised land - which is a life with Jesus as lord and Jesus leading them.

We can all become like Joshua because we have JESUS.

and when you have JESUS - you have the greatest gift and the greatest blessing that can ever be passed onto another person and thats the GOSPEL… and YOUR FAITH!

Israel had Joshua / Yoshua

You and me, the new ISRAEL.. have JESUS / YESHUA.
