There Is Treasure In Our Earthen Vessel!

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves!

One of the greatest discoveries I made in my life was that God wanted to deposit His treasure into my earthen vessel!

Today, I would like to share with you some of the things that should flow out of this treasure embedded in our earthen vessel!

In order to do this, I would like to remind you of three glorious truths and then make a few brief applications for your life!

When We . . .

I. REPENT we become a CONTAINER with the Presence of God!

Acts 2:38 Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for (because of), the forgiveness of your sins; AND you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is IN you, whom you have from God . . .

*Once we realize the Holy Spirit dwells inside of us . . .

We Need To . . .

II. RECOGNIZE we are a CARRIER of the Presence of God!

John 1:33 I did not recognize Him, but He . . . said to me, “He upon whom you SEE the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit

*John the Baptist said he did not recognize Jesus when He first saw Him, but after Jesus was baptized with the Holy Spirit . . .

*As a carrier of the Holy Spirit upon Him, Jesus knew who He was, and He was aware of His assignment, and He lived each day, and took every step conscious of the Dove—Holy Spirit resting upon Him!

*Once we realize the Holy Spirit dwells inside of us and once we recognize we are also a carrier of His Presence wherever we go . . .

We Need To . . .

III. RESOLVE to be a CONDUIT of the Presence of God!

John 7:37 . . . he who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, from his innermost being will FLOW rivers of living water

John 7:38 . . . this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified

*What kind of things should we expect to FLOW through us when we are filled with the Holy Spirit?

A. LIGHT will flow through us . . .

2 Cor 4:6 For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ

B. GRACE will flow through us . . .

John 1:16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace . . .

C. TRUTH will flow through us . . .

John 1:17 . . . grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ

D. ANOINTING will flow through us . . .

Numbers 11:17 . . . and I will take of the Spirit who is upon you, and will put Him upon them

Numbers 11:25 . . . and He took of the Spirit who was upon him and placed Him upon the seventy men

D. PROPHETIC WORDS will flow through us . . .

Numbers 11:25 . . . and when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied

Numbers 11:29 . . . would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!

*This was a prophetic prayer that finds its fulfillment in the New Testament Believer . . .

1 Corinthians 14:3 One who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation . . .

1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy . . .

E. HEALING will flow through us . . .

Mark 16:17 And these signs will accompany all who believe, in My name . . . they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover

Acts 9:17 Ananias . . . after laying his hands on him said . . . the Lord Jesus has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit

F. GIFTS will flow through us . . .

1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery (elders)

Romans 1:11 For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established

Numbers 11:31 Now there went forth a WIND from the Lord and it brought . . .

The word for WIND is RUACH and is most often understood to mean SPIRIT and or BREATH! What will the WIND, SPIRIT, or BREATH bring into your life . . .

Jesus told Nicodemus the wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it but you do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit!

The SPIRIT spirits where He wishes and your HEAR (akou-o), the SOUND (pho-ne-o/ articulated language) of Him . . .

So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit!

*Now there went forth a WIND from the Lord and it brought -- whatever the Spirit from the Lord brings . . .
