Introduction
It is “Indonesia” not “Indanesia”
Miguel has taught me how to spell “Colombia”
As we care for our missionaries and the great Commission we learn World Geography
Many of you called and asked about our missionaries in Turkey
Story: Village in Indonesia.
When the chief wanted to gather he would make a pot of yams.
People would gather around the yams and he would speak.
The missionaries followed their example.
The Looneys are going to a very major city.
30+ million.
They probably won’t gather around yams but they will gather
Jens would like to gather around fried rice
Gather around the Word
Meetings will start with people clinging.
Psalm 119:25 “25 DALETH.
My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.”
Psalm 119 is a poem of love for the word of God.
Dust.
It is a pointed theological reminder of the brokenness that comes from humanity’s fallen state.
Genesis 3:19 “19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
Transition: All who gather around God’s Word have the fact we are just dust in common.
In time believers will move from clinging to dust to running.
Confession: My soul cleaveth unto the dust:
Prayer: quicken thou me according to thy word.”
In God’s time you small meetings of people will begin to become a place where lives are being changed by God’s Word.
How will this happen?
Genesis 2:7 “7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
The meetings will go from clinging to dust to a meeting of living souls.
By the Word of God.
Jen’s God has used you to teach God’s Word.
You have taught in churches all across America.
We are people who are supposed to know the power of this Word.
You will start with people who do not know the power of God’s Word.
But as you teach God’s inspired Word then those clinging to dust will soon run.
We breathe in that breath of life when we read the Bible.
Jen’s let people learn to breath in life.
God makes his word the means for creating new life in the soul of man. 1 Peter 1:23 “23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
