FOCUS (the core of the content to be communicated)

Like a fish needs water & our bodies need air (because both are the only source of oxygen for them), our soul needs God because apart from a living relationship with Him we die. It’s that real & important — no oxygen, no physical life & no God, no spiritual life.

One of the most significant vital signs in the life of a believer is their devotional life. What they do daily to nurture their relationship with God in growing to know, love & serve Him better & more is directly connected to their impact upon & influence in this world.

Daniel chapter 6 is where we find the story about his night in lion’s den. Ironically, it was his devotion to God that put him there in the first place. And it was the God of his devotion that kept him safe, untouched & alive through it all.

Our devotion to God …

1

1. prepares us for whatever may come our way.

Daniel didn’t freak out because He knew God was with & for him. - Daniel 6:10ff

2. sustains us through whatever may come our way.

Daniel wasn’t eaten by those lions, his accusers & their families were. - Daniel 6:19ff

Making It Real

1] Is God & God alone your first & foremost / your all in all?

2] What has been your story of God’s sustaining grace, power & love?

Action Step

Pick one of those two questions & write out a one or two paragraph prayerful response.
