Session 1: Why were we created?
(Worship)
GOD PLANNED ME FOR HIS PLEASURE.
OFFER REAL WORSHIP!
Worship is more than just music.
It can include music, but it is praying, studying our bible, loving others, doing what we are doing right now, and honestly anything that has to deal with giving God praise.
So, let me ask you this.
ASK: What do you consider worship?
Push them to give you their definition, not what the overall definition.
What is worship to them.
How do they see themselves worship.
We see Worship Begin in Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.”
The word TEND here means to SERVE.
ASK: What are things in your life, that you serve?
Electronics?
- Money? - Relationships? - Sex? - Shopping? - Sports?
In the New Testament, we see the Christ is recognized by his followers and the worshipped him.
Luke 24:52-53 “So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy.
And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God.”
Ok, so they didn’t physically spend their whole time in the temple, but they worshiped.
ASK: What/Where do you find yourself doing the most of throughout your day?
Hosea 6:6 “I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices.
I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.”
ASK: Have you ever done something because you were made to do it?
(Like what)
We say we pray, or love God, or go to Church, but in reality, we are offering that up either as something we are made to do, or to make ourselves look good.
God is saying, keep your fake worship.
I don’t want it.
Prove it.
OUR FIRST PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO KNOW AND LOVE GOD!
